I don't know if this is what you're looking for but...

I raced a brand new altima 2.5 and by the time i hit 90 he was a good few lengths behind me.

I also raced a bmw 5 series (new one) and got SMOKED.

Beat every single suped-up civic I see in toronto (and their pretty blue lights and crazy spoilers do NOT add 10 hp each, as they would have you believe)
Beats my friends A4 1.8T.
Kept up with an old 3.5 RL.
Got smoked by an SL600. Damn.

This is a neat thread. I'd like to know what this car can stand up to. I know it can't stand up to a BMW 5 series.. lol

Same with me on a 3.5RL, kept up and would've passed but had to exit highway. I also haven't been really challenged by anything else that I know of... I drive fast regardless.

528 or 530 might be a good run from a stop. I spanked my buddies 528 in my stock TLS before pretty badly. Highway was a little closer though.

Don't know about the new 5, although I didn't think it was out yet.

In reply to vasu,

Plenty of people have their TSX broken in.

The TSX and Limited Legend 200 hp are pretty close.
Between a TSX and a TL Type S, the Type S is faster off the line and was able to pull 1 car length ahead. (When the driver of the Type S tried using the tiptronic on his car, my TSX was able to beat him ):P

I have an automatic and was going against automatics.

A TL type-S only beat you by a car length? That seems odd I thought it would be way faster.

I'm still in the break in period, but I can't wait. My buddy has a 2002 BMW 325. He says he'll smoke me. What do you guys think?
Is it faster?

Yes its faster, but not by much. If you are a better driver you may be able to keep up or beat him. Let us know how it goes

I honestly believe it is only going to be quicker because of the launch...rwd just launches harder than fwd cars with crappy stock rubber. If you get new tires I think you stand an excellent chance.

I'm definitely a quicker driver than he is, plus he's got the automatic, so he'll be eating my dust. I'll keep you posted.

Is his 325 a 4-door or coupe? Weight could be a factor here, too.

a 325 auto is a lower 8 second 0-60 and the 1/4 in what, 16 flat? Assume that the tsx, with it's stock tires, is a 7.5 second 0-60 car and 15.6 in the quarter. You should have him by several car lenghts at the end.

i think our biggest competition is the is300. people over on is300 forums are going crazy about how lexus>acura (which is true), but all in all, that is300 is fugly!!

but in all honesty, the is300 is slightly more for performance and since its a v6, 225hp, it should take the tsx, but i hear otherwise.

It's all mag racing until someone goes to a track but in just about every magazine that has tested both is300 and tsx manuals they have been ~ dead even to 60 and wthin 1 to 2 tenths in the 1/4 miles. I know lexus guys will say how they have people hitting high 6s and 15 flat stock but they come stock with summer tires. Will be interesting to see what the tsx does in a straight line when someone actually gets some good rubber on there.

I think TSX 6MT > 325 Auto 4DR, assuming you drive well. Let us know how it goes.

Edit: Just try not to race him up a hill

It's an I6.

And 225hp makes it pretty weak for a 3.0L.

It would get owned, but not big time.

My times on the TSX so far: 0-60: 7.4secs, 15.6@92 (¼mile)

i'd love to see a race between a tsx and rsx-s from a 5mph roll. My guess it would be dead even. Anyone else have any cojecture?

doesnt a rsx-s do 0-60 in 6.4?i think motortrend got the car to do it in 6.2 and quarter mile in low to mid 14's.....in that case....kiss a tsx goodbye.

since we don't have timeslips for tsxs yet I suppose all we can do is mag race..but I think thi sis a little innaccurate. Most people with stock rsxs's are running low 15s on average. I'm sure some sneak in a little quicker than that, but that's on average.. That's going to be a several car lenghts quicker than a tsx through the same stretch no doubt, but not going to be as much as those times would indicate. Also from a roll the tsx's stronger low end torque curve would pay dividends vs a stock rsxs.

The TSX (stock) may put up a good fight doing having some fun on city streets and maybe even on the track. On an open highway its dead. An IS might be slow for a 6 but its still a 6 and will overtake eventually, same with the bimmer (186hp isnt it?)

Now, Im not favoring any cars, Im not bashing the TSX. I love the TSX, have ever since I test drove one. But you cant own that car thinking you are speed racer cause it just aint happening. Its a quick little fun car that handles really well.

When mods become available I'm sure some people on this board will pull some sick numbers out of their asses.

But if you really wanted a race car thats why they have the WRX and STi and EVO.

Thank god Im stuck paying for my CL cause my head would explode at trying to figure what car to buy. Give up luxury for speed, give up speed for luxury... BAH too much pressure to deal with!!!!!

The only thing lexus>Acura on is the $$. A $5000 or so premium for THAT piece of shit? Talk to me when they redesign the car.

Has anyone gotten to a 1/4 track yet? Someone needs to after it's broken in well. I think that 1/4 time from Motor Trend can definately be beaten, wasn't it barely under 16.0? I think that with a good launch and good driver, the 6MT TSX should hit 15.3-4, but I guess we'll see.

This is not true.

On open high way, your speed is determined by your HP, gearing, and drag. IS has very good high end power and is a very good highway car, and I have no doubt it can beat a TSX. On the other hand, the bimmer that you mentioned with its 186hp will have a lot of fun admiring TSX's backend when it hits high speed.

cool

Jason- Personally, I like the IS300 as much as I like the TSX. TSX more, but there are some things the IS300 will always win me over. The fact that this car is a better suited highway flyer.
And lexus service, you just cant beat it and its worth every penny for the treatment you receive.

But in the end I love all the cars (cept the 325, get a fucking 330 or M3.) And if I had to choose it would be tough, and TSX would of course probably win. My point is we shouldnt be as bad as other boards and dis other cars outright. We all have our opinions. I know youre not doing that, but I felt the need to say it anyway.
cheers

The fact is that both TSX and IS300 are very good highway cars, but TSX does that with a lot less fuel.

And so we are full circle ... the TSX is not a straight line drag racer. But it sure is fun as heck in the twisties

Quick Reply: Has anybody raced their tsx yet???
