Will Navigation Dvd Computer Fit from other models???
Hello everyone, I bought a 2004 tsx 6speed with navi last weekend. The cars has problems with Navigation. The previous owner said that someone diagnosed it and it's the unit in the back. It says "Please check Your disc on the screen".
I found the part number 39540-SEC-A01RM, which cost ~$320, but it can be ordered ONLY if the car is under warranty, otherwise it's the same number without RM and it cost $3000
Now the question is: will the computer from 2004 MDX or TL Work??? They all have different part numbers, but look absolutely the same front and back.
May be there is another fix for my problem? I've tried menu/guide/cancel buttons but it didn't work, when I turn the car on it says "now downloading software", then it goes to "please check your disc" message.
Any reply is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

A dealer can send your Navi unit back to the component manufacturer to be reman'd. They may require that you let them do diagnostics on it before it's removed for the veh. I think cost is under $250 plus labor.

I fount a TSB on it, but 2 dealers said that it can be done only if the car is under the warranty and mine had 90K miles. I even called Acura-USA and they told me the same thing

Other DVD units may have the same guts and MAYBE the same cable plug ups, but I looked it up for someone else (look at the main discussion page) and the part number is specific for the TSX. FYI, the part number above has been superceded.

Might try a local Honda dealer to see if they'll send it in for you, or call Alpine directly to see if you can send it to them directly.

It's actually been updated since this was posted, but the info regarding "out of warr" units is pretty much the same
