Question Transmission crack....

Ok I have two questions.....

1) My transmission, on my 04 TSX AT, makes a slight cracking sound every time I switch between park, reverse and drive. Is this normal? If not, then what can it be?

2) I have a 3rd party warranty (AA Auto Warranty). I have a mechanic that does good work but I rather take it to someone who really knows my car and probably does work like this all the time. Can I use my 3rd party warranty in an Acura dealership? Or do they only accept the warranties that they offer?

Thanks in advance for the responses.

Honda produced a few faulty transmission cases in 2004 due to a bad lot of transmission castings. Less than 3,000 vehicles were effected. There was a service bulletin but no recall. The good news is that Honda would replace any effected transmission, the bad news is after 2004 the offer expired. IF yours was one of those few cars Honda may still make good on a repair, but it has been a long time and your car is well out of warranty.

I'd suggest taking it to the dealer. Let them determine if there is a problem.

Any shop working for the warranty company will probably deny anything is wrong. Most of those companies try their best not to pay anything. The company you picked has multiple other companies that pay claims. They have multiple coverage plans. You need to reseach the plan you have, see if the drivetrain is covered.

Good luck. Hopefuly nothing is wrong.

from the FAQ...

"2. What is the procedure if I need to file a claim on my new or used car extended warranty?

Getting repaired and back on the road is so simple. If your vehicle breaks down or is in need of a repair, take it or have it towed to any licensed repair facility and present your extended car warranty service agreement to the Service Department. After they diagnose the problem with the vehicle, they will call our claims administrator toll-free for authorization for your covered repairs less a deductible where applicable. Our administrator pays all covered claims directly to the repair facility of your choice with a check, therefore, you do not have to pay for your repair and wait to get reimbursed. It is that simple. Repair facilities are paid quickly and efficiently over the phone via corporate credit card. "

I have 'Direct Choice' from AA Auto Warranty..... I was looking at what it covers and its says that the warranty includes the engine, transmission, drive axles, drive shaft ,etc..... I'm going to take the car this weekend to my local Acura dealership to see if anything is wrong. Hopefully nothing is..... But like I asked my original question, will the Acura dealership take the warranty I have?

Appearently based on the FAQ above the answer is "Yes." But if this is related to the TSB I'd try to get Acura to replace it at thier costs first. Use the 3rd party warranty as a last resort. Some of these warrantys are refundable but only if you don't make any claims on them.
