Timing chain and VTC gear replacement
Hey guys, im half way done with me supercharging, and i took off the oem vtc to change it with the RSX type which allows up to 50 degrees.
Removing the VTC was easy enough, all engine a TDC, but putting the chain back on is proving to be a bitch. Anyone have any tips or tricks that might save me just putting a lighter to my car?

DJ,
I just replaced my timing chain 2 weeks ago. You need to remove the tensioner first, put the chain on the cam gears, then replace the tensioner. The tensioner is under a small access cover to the rear of and slightly above the crank pulley. It is tight, but can be removed without taking the crank pulley off. It has 3 bolts on the cover and 2 on the tensioner. Once the tensioner is out you must compress the piston (say in a vice) then pin the ratchet arm up. Once installed, just remove the pin and replace the cover.

Chattpereira, I know what you mean. My '04 with 110K miles jumped a tooth on the exhaust cam gear, that's why I replaced my timing chain. What year and miles are your car?

I have a question for you guys who have replaced the timing chain yourselves, as I'm going to be doing the same in a couple weeks.
The last step in the process, per the service manual, is to perform the CKP pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure. On most cars, this can be done without the use of a dealership computer (ie: Honda's HDS) by simply leaving the car sit for ~24 hours with the negative battery cable disconnected. Same deal on the TSX?
