Thumpity-thump-thump, OUCH!
Uh-oh. Baby's got a boo-boo...
This happened last week when missusmojo was on her way back home from work. Hit <something> on the hwy @ about 120km/hr. Probably a piece of a tire carcass. She did the right thing, stayed in her lane and straddled it rather than trying to swerve and risking a dive into the ditch or worse. It made a not-too-loud "thump-thump" noise under the car and that was about it. But the damage! Yikes.
- Broke some kind of plastic underbody cover
- Broke evap canister attached to fuel tank (caused CEL to come on)
- Broke (removed) chrome tip from tail pipe
- Made a big gash in the bumper cover
The first 3 items are going to be about CAD$450 to repair (parts on order), but I haven't had it into a body shop for an estimate on the bumper yet. My guess is that it can't be repaired and the entire bumper cover will have to be replaced, probably $1K or more. Anyone know if it's possible to repair that with epoxy or something?
Pics below. Yes, the car is dirty. It's -25C outside right now, it's just going to have to stay that way for a couple days.

I found the stuff on DIY.com: http://www.diynet.com/diy/hi_duct_ta...278128,00.html
I think your best bet is to replace the bumper for it to look good...

Dang, sorry about that mojo. I believe there's not much you can do about the bumper shell. You can always try epoxy, but it's going to want to break at the first occasion.

No, I doubt very much I'll do insurance for it. We've had a couple claims in the past few years already, it wouldn't be worth the hit. I'll get the mechanical stuff fixed ASAP, but probably leave the bumper repair for a while. Depends on what the stock of blurple duct tape is like at Canadian Tire.

Cost of bumper plus paint is probably near 500 if not more.

Sorry to see the damage. At least wifey is okay though....
Does anyone think the OEM rear underspoiler kit would be able to up most of the damage?
I don't have the OEM kit myself...so maybe someone else can comment.
