Side mirror turn signal replacement

I have searched and found some details on this issue, but I want to post the question directly.... the turn signal on my passenger side view mirror is toasted. It got cracked in a bird collision (detailed in a post a while back - feathers, blood, all good stuff). Since then, it's managed to take in water and is now yellowing and non-functional. I can buy just the light unit for like $50 (vs a whole new mirror for $350), but it's not a straightforward swap out (as far as I can tell - no obvious external screws on the light fixture). Denville, NJ Acura said "we've never done it, so it might take 1 - 1 1/2 hrs of labor" Nearly choked up my lunch on the idea of paying for their learning curve. Anyway.. any smarties out there done this and know the ropes? Much obliged for any guidance.

You have to remove the mirror and mirror motor. Then you will see the screws from the inside. Looks to me like a 40 min job.... TOPS.

Follow up on mirror do-it-yourself

I have a PM out to someone who was very helpful, but I'm covering all bases: Can you confirm that the mirror motor needs to be removed? I removed the mirror and screws and the light assembly is pretty loose, but I can't get in there enough to disconnect the cable and I'm deathly afraid of cracking the very flimsy shell of the whole unit ('cuz Acura will want $200 for it) by manhandling the thing to get the old light out. Is there a trick to removing the motor? Or it is just a matter of removing the visible screws on it?
Many thanks. - Gip

I have done this already. you don't need to remove the motor. only glass mirror and screws holding lense in.

Isn't it funny how dealers want to charge you book rate when most of the time book is still high until they aren't sure and then they want to charge flat rate? I see that happen at the dealer I work at even.

My signal burnt out. I called the dealer and they said $60 to have it replaced. When I went the part was like $60 but they would charge 2 hours of labor or $180. I was like bloody hell! The guy said oh you have to remove the mirror, motor, door liner, etc.
I went home and took it apart in like 10 mins. The scariest part is removing the mirror. You have to remove the mirror from the bottom first because if you remove the mirror from the top you will break the mirror. You have to be gentle but firm.
