Rubber seal scratches tint?
I can't see how. The seals that scratch the tint film are on the inside of the glass. I honestly don't know what they are intended to do, but it doesn't seem likely they could reduce wind noise.

Now that I have my Helms manual, I'm just gonna take the door panels apart myself and remove the rubber seals. Hopefully I'll have time this weekend.
I forgot to mention that my tinter also mentioned buying a can of Plexus from him, it supposedly protects your tints from getting scratched. I'm not sure if I should get it.. what do you guys think?
Will it work? or is the tinter jus tryina make more $$$ off me?
Here's the site for the product:

There is a plastic wiper inside the door that's causing your tint to scratch. Moleskin is just a strip of felt that is stuck on the wiper to prevent scratching. Here's a link to a good post in the TL forum: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65819
Also try a search here for moleskin and you'll have a few results to look through...

I guess I read this thread a little too late because I rolled down my windows today and there's vertical scratches on the driverside window. Haven't really inspected the other windows, but it kinda sucks. You can't really see them unless you look hard, but since I'm really anal about my cars, its somewhat bothersome. Ah well...
yes yes, those infamous scratches. pissed me off so i went out n bought some felt from the craft store and had my self a nice cutting and pasting craft project. month later only one or two more faint scratches were visable which just washed off with some tinted window cleaner.
it is a pretty tedious job and i think i could have taken some more time to do it, mostly beucase the self adhesive stopped sticking so i had to hot glue it on, the rubber is a pain in the arse to stick anything to. and ofcourse if uve worked with hot glue you know how annoying those little spiderwebs it makes.... just make sure u keep the felt clean when u put it back on, anyhting on it will over time scratch the window.
but i do hafta say its not a bad mod, saves the windows so far.... i hope itll last

the stuffs like a few bucks, if that at any craft store. i think i got mine at michaels. poping the door pannels off is very easy, and if ure careful you wont make any scratches or scuffs. adhearing the felt is easy if its cool n dry out but if not a little bit of hot glue works fine. the tight seal on the windows help seat the felt neway.... now that i think about it i probably shouldnt have opened my windows that night but i didnt notice nething was shifted when i poped the door pannels off recently.

well i bought mine in 8 by 11 rectangles and just used a razor blade and a straight edge and cut it. i think i used 1/8 of an inch for the bottoms n i made the tops a bit bigger. 1/8 or 1/4. just measure n check. the bottom needs to fold flat against the top so when u press on it, there should be a flat ammount of felt.
i should have pics somehwere, ill load them on here when i get a chance if ud like

no problem, i just hafta go find my camera cord. in the mean time search on the faq section i beleive there were some pictures someone had on one of those photobucket sites or something on how to remove the door pannel. nno i dont have that nifty tool, with a rag and screw driver i was able to pop the door off, once u realize how they pop off you can try other things, i now sorta pry it from the top cuz i really dont care to put the screwdriver to my car, but then again its on the bottom of the door.
and to get those plastice clips off, DONT use a screw driver, youll ruin the clip. i took some like 12 gauge wire, about the size of phone cord (the individual stuff), nothing too big or small, and wrapped it once around the plasic clip and pulled straight out, it gripped it nicely and poped right out... i ahve pics i think of this.

Here ya go virtualbong. I did the same thing a while back and posted it, but no one seemed interested and I took the pics down. I bought black adhesive-backed felt from michaels, cut it into strips and put it on the rubber.
Hope this helps!

okay heres the doorpannel gone....
see you can take the felt off the door... you want to do that, apply the felt and then stick the felt strip back onto the pannel you took off... otherwise ull see pink...
if u look you can see that white clip... heres how i wrapped some purple wire around it...
i cant find the felt strips i took... if u cant find the felt sheets i still have an uncut one so ill take a pic of that and the tag if u want.
its just black felt.
see if u can get that door pannel removeal itll tell you where the pry points are. look here you can see i bent one clip, but now i know where they are so i know where to pry.
n heres the clip to undo the window switch.... dont laugh it took me abot 20 minutes to figure out how to get it off. press that button!

oh yeah dont forget about the door handle cord. the back doors you can remove the whole pannel if u get off the door wire. and ofcourse the 4 screws, the front doors get more complicated, the passenger then the most complicated the driver. but its the same idea, cept u cant get the doors off cuz theres a light at thebottom that i couldnt figure out how to get off, that and i didnt need it off. also theres a plastic peice where your mirrors are... that prys off.
i think thats it
good luck! start with the back doors, the least used one.

all you need to do is pull of the door panels. Just follow the instructions in the FAQ and you'll be fine. Once the panel is off, you pull the rubber seals from the top of the panel. It's really easy and intuititve.

nope... well acutally yes, when i didnt properly replace the door pannel i forgot to attach something it did rattle. but there is little parts there that could rattle. the majority of the door pannel is glued with plastic down to the metal. this white paste stuff.
the door lock cord is just long enough so theres no slack there. the window switch cord has a clip to hold it down, i think i forogt to do that last time n i heard something rattle when i closed the door. everytihgn else is pretty much tight.
the only rattle i have yet to hear in this car is the windshield in the front and theres a rattle in the back i heard on a car trip to FSU when my dad drove. it pissed thehell outa me. n i couldnt get it open cuz i didnt have my spare key with me and the other was in the ingition.

I am the one who sells the Mole skin for the TL.
It is the same product for the TSX but I don't have the instructions on how to take off the door panels.
Everything else will be the same though. I am still looking for a donor TSX so I can take pictures of the install.
Order below.

woah whys your kit so expensive, i think i bought 2 sheets at micheals for like 5 bucks or something of that sort. its a very simple project, as long as you have a little bit of time and the ambition to do it u wont have a problem
Looks like lots o people had tint problems. I have been putting off my own tints out of laziness, but now I need to see what the deal is with our cars and chocolate window skins. Does anyone with 2005 have the scratch problems? Or is it an 04 thing?
i beleive its on all the TSXs. its just how the window seals were made, its quite easy to install, i should have pictures somehwere on my comp. the scratches ususaly come from dust or dirt. we recently moved into a new neighbhorood so theres tons of dust, but the scratches are also affecting others too. so, personally i waited until i saw scratches, then did them all in one day.

I have a 2005 and I have scratches on my left front window. I just rolled my front right down all the way today and now it has one vertical scratch. Again, I think it was from rolling down the window all the way so that there's an opening into the door panel.
