Any one hear of any 04 TSX locking issues? My passenger side door will not lock or unlock with the key fob or internal door lock switch?

Had this problem with an Accord years ago and it's an easy fix for an Acura technician; don't know about do it yourself. You should get plenty of response here though, as I think that along with a number of other things, door lock problems are not that uncommon with the 04's (as represented here anyway).

2005 TSX has door lock problems, too

My front passenger-side door lock had this problem when my 2005 TSX was still under warranty. Then, 10K miles over-warranty, the driver-side door lock developed the problem. The dealership won't do a courtesy repair for me despite my best efforts and mentioning that numerous Acurazine members have experienced the same problem.

I would LOVE to do something organized to get Acura corporate to admit that they have a problem. Any advice as to how to get this started would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Jane

I changed the actuator myself. It was PITA.

If the dealer won't give you a break, they will charge you $200 for parts and labor. Good luck.

I asked Weir Canyon Acura CA. If I provide the part, they will charge $165 for labor.

I called the phone number for Client Services that I found after hunting around on Acura.com. I spoke to a representative who informed me that opening a case and assigning it to a Case Manager for consideration for a courtesy repair requires my obtaining a diagnosis of the problem from my Acura dealership. Of course, there's a charge for that, and it costs me my time - time that could be spend actually getting the lock repaired instead of waiting for the dealership to "diagnose" the problem, which I know to be the actuator since this has happened to me before! Now, I get why this policy is in place, but I can also see the writing on the wall and have decided to just pay for my mechanic (not the Aucra dealership) to replace the actuator.

That's a lousy deal since the actuator costs less than $20 according to a couple of OEM parts Websites that I checked.

yea, and I think it will just take an hour for their mechanic to work on it. Charging $165/hr does make sense in my brain.

How much do you pay your mechanic to fix it?

06 TSX had the problem with both front doors, dealer repaired under warranty. Took about 2 hours. Seemed to work find after that, but I only kept it a few more months and was bit with the new car bug. Traded in for a 08 RDX.

I'll let you know how much via this thread when I know - I haven't even gotten a quote yet and probably won't for a couple more weeks.

Honda needs to step up to the plate and cover these as a recall. These should not be failing on a 4 year old car. My 95 Integra has 119k miles on it and have never had to replace these. I've taken door panels off before so it isn't a big deal for me, but I too would be pissed if I had to do this on a 4 year old car.

Sometimes I think Honda has these parts fail on purpose. This way, you get frustrated, buy another Acura/Honda and they get a nice used car to make more money. So far I have seen, compressor failures and these door lock issues. Not to mention all the transmission issues. All these parts have been made for years, so why can't Honda find a good supplier of these parts? I think they don't want to.

Are compressors another common issue with the TSX? I haven't heard of any problems on the Honda line before.

They have been failing on the 04's and I have read many more failures on the honda forums.

Both lock and power window switch???

I was told that I had to replace both the door lock actuator switch AND the power window switch. Seems odd to me. He (mechanic) said the two were in series and window won't work with out door lock switch
