Problem: Automatic Door Locks with Remote

Hello,

I have a 2004 TSX, just developed its first issue. When I use the remote to try to unlock the doors I am unable to have the doors unlock. The car responds (i.e. 4-ways flash) but the locks don't budge. I have to manually use the key to unlock the doors. The automatic doorlock button inside the car unlockslocks all of the doors just fine so it doesn't seem to be an issue with the power lock mechanism. Likewise, when I go to lock the car I have to use the key. The remote will arm the alarm but not lock the doors. I have of course already tried changing the battery and using the spare remote.

Any thoughts? Dealer is not sure...

Geez, I haven't seen that in a TSX before...

i have the same problem. its possible the power door lock motor is going bad or the door panel is pusing on the rod itself creating resistance.

I had the same issue occur yesterday and I just figured my key fob battery was going dead. Tried out the spare key fob (with a good battery) tonight and same problem. Using the key in the door locks & unlocks all doors fine and the switch in the car for locking & unlocking works on all doors but the driver door.

I'm guessing it is the power door lock in the door. Funny thing is, about a year ago that driver door was replaced with a brand new factory door after a car backed into my car. I know they reused some parts that weren't broken. I bet they reused the power door locks... DAMN IT!

The button on the driver door works just fine, its only the remote. This is why it is so frustrating. You'd think the whole motor would have quit, not just for the remote...

I'll be going in the shop soon enough and will let everyone know what, if anything, they diagnose. In the meantime additional thoughts are appreciated. I just have this feeling they won't be able to figure it out so I'm trying to point the dealer in the right direction.

Wow, good on you, mate.

Oh ... maybe you're not the original owner. If you are ... The Force must be strong in you.

Hi,

I'm having the exact problem with my 05 MDX. Did you get a final diagnosis of the actuator. From the other threads, the actuator was causing other problems.

I'm anxious to get this resolved.

Its always the actuator. The plastic just wears down after awhile.

The dealership should fix it...if you are under warranty, then its free of course, but expect to pay 150-200. The part itself is $25 (at least for the TSX).
