Odd noise from transmission ?
(Sorry if I'm too long winded... )
I installed the Comptech SS yesterday. Absolutely love it.
However in the process, I ripped the damn shift boot cover. Since I need to replace it, I didn't reinstall the center console/cupholders piece. (Though it appears that that got busted too... one of the screw holes where the cupholder goes into the flat console snapped. Hoping I can superglue it...)
So obviously, the shifter assembly is currently exposed.
Question is, while I'm driving (regardless of the gear), I hear what sounds like a faint whirring, almost clicky-type sound while in gear. When I put it into neutral, everything is quiet.
I never noticed this noise before. Maybe it's more apparent since there could be less noise insulation/isolation from the transmission (with the cupholder/console piece removed).
Is it possible I screwed something up installing the SS ? I don't see how it could happen, but I'm definitely paranoid.
To get all 4 bolts out of the shifter assembly, I did have to push the shift lever rod (?) to the left some to fit the socket (this is the front bolt, passenger side). Is is possible I put too much strain on it?
Here's to hoping I didn't royally screw anything up.
All comments are absolutely welcome!

It doesn't feel loose. I'll check it again in a couple days.
I think I'm just hearing things. It has to be normal transmission noise. I think everything is a little louder with the console off.
(By the way, how I ripped the cover... for the life of me I couldn't get the thing off, so decided to use a wrench wrapped in a rag to grab the front handhold. It worked, but I slipped and it ripped the cover. Oh well...)
