Nav System Freeze 06

2004 TSX NAV 5AT MSM
I have had my 2004 TSX with NAV since April 2003 and only on a few occations in the past 2 1/2 years or so has it weirded out on me. If I were you I would explain what is happening to your dealers service dept and see if they can do anything.

I have a similar complaint about my 06 NAVI. When you reach the listings on the screen, the 1st choice selection won't proceed if selected. If trying to select it by touch it doesn't register. It will highlight with the yellow/blue boundary but it just sits there. So have to use the back voice key or dash cancel button and re-enter the topmost selection verbally. I hope this makes sense.

I've also noticed the 1st navi entry in a list is difficult to select by touch. Wonder if that's a glitch... I usually just use the joystick thingy to confirm the selection, but that's kinda tricky, too. I'm seeing the dealer on Saturday for a wiper adjustment, I'll see if I can replicate the problem for them and what they say...

You talking about selecting a first (top) option from a menu like 'previously entered destinations' ? I haven't experienced this problem yet on my 06 yet...

I have an '06 TSX w/ Navi, and I've had mine freeze, too.
It's only occurred when I've pushed the button to "say the city" command, and then tried to cancel out of it by pushing back on the steering wheel or cancel on the dash to type it in. It's only happened twice, though.
I'll mention it when I take it in for the 0% oil life service. I'm at 3,000 miles right now, and I'm showing 50% oil life.

YAH! It's the first selection in a list that is hard to select. It might not be problematic on previous destinations, but like a listing of restaurants or places it just highlights and sits there. Repeated tapping and it will not react. It always happens on the 1st listing entry.

I have an 06 with Nav as well but have noticed a different Nav problem. After selecting a destination, and starting out on the trip there, I received a phone call. While talking on the phone (via bluetooth), a message pops up on the Nav screen talking about how some option is not available here (??), and then the route I am on cancels out. The blue path disappears from the screen, and directions are no longer provided. I have noticed this same sort of thing happen when I hit the Nav voice command button while on a call, and I understand why this would cause a failure, but the former error seems more like a bug.
Anyone else experience this?

I bought my 06' TSX w/ Navi back in Jan and about 3 weeks ago (mid-April) my navi started to freeze on me. When I took my car to the dealer for it's first service appt, I mentioned it to them. Of course, they couldn't find anything wrong with it, never heard of the issue, and basically told me to keep an eye on it and let them know the next time I bring it in for service if it's still happening. Well... now it happens about every other day. Sometimes it freezes while on the map screen and sometimes it freezes while on the radio control screen. Has anyone who has had this problem been able to get it fixed?

Mine still freezes. I complained when I brought it in for the first oil change. They couldnt find anything wrong. They told me to bring it to them in the frozen condition if possible. I have found that I can consistently get it to freeze in the same location with the same destination. I was able to show up at the dealer with it frozen. They replaced the nav unit. It still freezes. I am going to show up with it frozen again when I go for my second oil change.

Finally Fixed!
I re-created the freeze for them again. They asked me exactly what it was doing and where I was when it froze. They thought perhaps it was a software issue since they had already replaced the nav unit. They passed this info on to the navi software people. The navi software people plugged the info into a software test bed at their location. The same set of circumstances caused their software test bed to freeze also. They told me that for some reason their software doesnt like routes that contain my home address. They wrote a software patch for it, put it on a disc and sent it to the dealer. The dealer uploaded the patch to my system. Since the patch was installed there have been no further freezes.

Glad to hear you got it fixed. Mine has really taken a turn for the worse. It now freezes about 75% of the time... no matter where I'm at or what routes I'm taking. My serivce reminder is going to go off any day now, so when I bring it in for service, I will tell them again that this is happening. Hopefully, they will have a better answer for me this time.
On another note: My car wouldn't start today. Very strange. I turned the key and heard a grinding noise. I tried again and it started. What's weird is that this happened about a week or two ago but I didn't think anything of it. Another thing to tell the dealer at my service.
I've gone from really loving this car when I got in Jan. of this year to becoming really frustrated with it. Nothing like showing the new car off to friends and co-workers and not being able to start it and then have the navi/radio screen freeze.

On occasion I can get the 06 Navi to do a complete reboot if I tell it to calculate a really long route. The first time I calculated a route from Kansas City to Zapata, TX the entire NAVI system rebooted back to the disclaimer.

Took my car to the dealer today for service and had them look at my navigation too. The re-initialized my nav system and the nav worked fine while I drove to work. After work the nav froze the next 3 times I drove. I called the dealer back and let them know and now they want me to come back next week and leave my car them for a few days so they can drive it and re-create the issue. The next step would be to replace the entire nav unit.
Of course, they need my consent to give them my car for a few days and they will give a me a loaner in return. Also, this will not cost me anything.
I am looking at the week of 24th to do this. Next week is bad for me unfortuneately. I will post an update when I know more.
