Dashboard Rattle Fianaly Fixed

Rattle is Finally fixed !!!!

After secound time I have taken it in, they finally fixed the problem.

They have found that the windshield is was sitting on a body plug which was not
supposed to be there. The windsheild was putting pressure on the body plug which was located on the lower right hand side of the firewall of the passenger side. Here is what the Dealer listed of the repair invoice

"4625 Foreign object (Body Plug from factory) 841099 2.0 after identifying the rattle sound on several test drives, there was a body plug found wedged between the front windsheild and the body/dash support. This plug is for exterior use only and has been there since assembly. Removal of object quieted verified noise was gone Plug was saved with repair order after identifying."

This plug was not suppose to be there and the dealer had check other TSX's and they dont have this plug there. Why I had the plug there remains to be a mystery
and considered a factory defect

my dashboard (passenger side) rattle went away. When it did do it, it only did it intermitently on cooler (50 degree) days. Now that i have 5000 miles on the car, i never have any rattles no matter what the temperature.

I'm glad the rattle went away, but i still listen for it on occassion....wondering if it will ever come back.

anyone else try the dash rattle fix listed above by sticking a washer in between the headunit and aluminum mount? also, is yours a navi or non navi unit?

My TSX's rattling noise is fixed by the Dealer today.

Just got my TSX 2005 at the begining of Dec. Noticed annoying rattling sound and it seemed to come from the passenger side door. It only happens when I accelerate swiftly and at only around 1800 to 2000 rev/min. Just brought my TSX to the dealer today, during the test drive, I was sitting at the passenger side (first time!), I noticed that the sound is instead coming from the domelinght/Homelink ceiling console just in front of the sunroof. Put my hand there and noticed the vibration. The dealer noticed and confirmed the vibration too.

Here is the deale's work log:
"1228 R/T The car with the customer and heard a noise from the domelight/homelink console RE and RE the console and R/T again. The rattlling nose seeems to be gone"

Yes, indeed. No rattling anymore.... I don't know what they did, I guess they just removed and reinstalled properly the console. I guess this is an assembly/workmanship problem at Acura.

Hope it last!

I had rattles, but they went away for some reason? Or maybe I just don't notice them anymore.

You might try this to get the rattle noise repeated when you're at your dealer. Try this, slightly press on the brake and press gently accelerate pedale (of course not very good for you brake)... the vibration get worse. It works for me to locate the problem was from the doomlight/homelink/sunglass console. Hope this help.

I don't know if I am experiencing the same thing.....but I've had it for a LONG TIME!!

Everyday after I started my car..... and stop, my brake pedal will shake, then my steering wheel will shake... I always feel this shaking. But after 10 mins of driving, it's gone. I always wonder what it is.

I have a similar vibration when the car is cold. My guess is the tires need to warm up before they get completely "round" again. I didn't notice it in the summer, just since it got cold. Not sure what else it could be.

csjarvis: Glad to hear you had luck fixing your rattle. May I ask what your s/n is to see if it's around the same as mine (17594)? Maybe I have the same problem. Do you know if you can see this plug from the outside, without removing the windshield? Was the plug white or black? Thanks!

I had a dashboard rattle when I'd decelerate without pushing in the clutch (6spd man)...they replaced the windshield wiper switch and fixed it.

ssn-ft1 did you ever get a chance to take a pic were this rubber washer goes? I have the same creak, it sounds like aluminum rubbing behind the nav when I hit bumps. Would like to see how you fixed it. Thanks

Well, I have a rattle on the passenger door only when I have the music up over 15 volume and the song has some bass in it. If I turn off my radio, then there's no rattles. This would be covered by Acura right?

Hey, VB, do you keep your sunglasses in the car's sunglasses holder most of the time? I had the same rattle problem when I play music with a lot of bass.. it turned out to be the sunglasses. After I removed them from the sunglasses holder, it stopped rattling.

Thats not true. I work at an Acura dealer here in New York and it happens to be the windshield clips. They are loose, which is why it only rattles in the cold. All that needs to be done is have someone peel back the windshield molding and apply some silicone gel. It fixed my TSX.

LOL, do you know what, that's exactly what it was. I figured it out the other day, but I totally forgot to update this thread until now. Who deserves a tomato to the face, I deserve a tomato to the face
