I feel my TSX is slow.

I have a 04 CG 6MT, and it's got 1300miles on it.
I've had it for a month and half.
Since it had 500miles, I felt my TSX is slower than brand new. When I take my car out of dealer, it felt stronger, smoother.
As the car feels slower, gas pedal got stiff and hard. Sometimes I have hard time to tip on the gas pedal on drive ways. It's throttle response is so dull now.
I floored it several times, but didn't abuse the engine. For first 600miles of 1300miles, I was in LA traffic. Is it bad to drive a brand new car which is breakin'-in in stop n go traffic on hot summer days?
How about full throttle several times before engine breaks in?
I am taking it to dealer and they'll probably say "We checked on the ECU for any error code, but could not find anything wrong with the engine. and throttle position and rate is calculated and managed by computer."
Did anyone experienced this? Do I have to let my car break in more?
If my TSX is gonna be like this for 5000miles more, then I seriously will trade in my car for G35 coupe 6MT without hesitation.

Here we go again with the "TSX is slow" issue. I doubt there is anything wrong with it and I doubt there's anything you did during break in to change things. The resetting of the ECU might change things temporarily. If you wanted more performance you should have gotten the G35 in the first place.

I got the same slow feeling too, sometimes. But since I'm a manual newbie and my shifting skill is still in "break-in" period as the car, my second nature just doesn't kick in smoothly.

And I don't know why people love to compare G35 coupe to TSX... They are two very different cars.

Could be the weather, since its probably warmer now than it was a couple months ago. I notice a significant diff in my tsx from cool to warm weather.

Did you put 87 in the car? It could also only be that your engine is still very young. I found that past 10,000 miles, my engine slowly openned up a little more. I can tell you it pulls really well at 55,000miles.

I only used 91 for the car. I will wait for my first oil change at 5000miles. I will go with synthetic like M1. I'll see if that makes difference.

Yeah I like my Auto and you would too if you had to sit in SO-cal traffic. I came over from a 2003 CL-S 6 speed navi and I love my Auto TSX. Traffic in San Diego is not kind to the "6 speed"

TSX's pretty much demand 91/93 fuel for good performance. Mine seems to run the best on Chevron Fuels . There is a slight noticible difference from using Chevron vs. using other fuels.

does the ECU adjust itself in power constantly depending on how aggressive or easy you drive? So if I push the rev high up there constantly, does the ECU adjust itself to feed more power?

Get an oil change. At first, when my CG TSX reached 5,000 miles, I felt as if the engine keeps choking and going slower on me. After I took it to the dealers for an oil change and got it back, I decided to drive it faster than normal, and lemme tell you, it makes a significant improvement. Many people say that Acura require an oild change every 1,000 - 1,200 miles, so I suggest doing that also.

Thanks for the advise. But how aggressively do I have to drive after the oil change? Did you use synthetic?

How are you doing with stone chips? Or do you have softer rocks up there?

I got a few pretty bad, one for example peeled thew paint and primer, it started rusting, but Acura re-touched it up for me for no additionnal moolah. The bumper I'm guessing will have to be repainted sometime, and the windshield is going to get replaced next spring, but that's usual wear in my case.

What is a hondata flash and s/c? Sounds like a software upgrade for the ECU. Any specifics on performance changes and when it might be available? If the RSX gets 200hp from a 2 liter, the TSX should be able to do better.

Hondata would indeed be a software upgrade. S/C would be referring to the comptech supercharger. No idea on availability though both companies have given indications that by the end of the summer.

The TSX has a longer stroke than the RSX-S. If the TSX had the same redline as the RSX it would put out far more HP but the piston speeds would be too high. In fact they'd be travelling faster than the S2000's! In any case the TSX develops more torque at a lower RPM than the RSX (166@4500 vs 142@6000) which helps move the extra weight of the TSX.

Thanks for filling that in, Dan. I forgot which way the TSX displacement was larger, stroke or bore.
