how to find an 05 manual transmission

I have an 05 TSX 6sp and the transmission just broke. Any wisdom on the best place to look for a used 6sp tranny?

Thanks

Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market

fill out the required blanks and it will list junk yards nearest to you with available transmissions, then either call said junkyard or show up to junkyard.
purchase transmission, then find somehow to transport it to shop of your choice

Thanks. Wow, not many options. Mostly 04s with lots of miles. Is this my best bet or are there other places to look?

Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market is the best way to find used big components.

or you can do it the old fashioned way by calling random junk yards to inquire about used transmissions

What do you mean "broke?" In most case it just needs to be rebuild; so we need more information on this.

As the wheels go around, there is a loud crunch/bang noise. Took it to the shop and they said its the tranny. They didnt take it apart but said something broke inside. I know that it has had a problem with the 3rd gear sync for years. Not sure if that added to the stress. The shop advised me to find used one and replace it because it can be hard to find parts for that 05 tsx tranny. hope that helps. Wish I was more articulate on the probable problem.

would it be more cost effective if I found someone who would rebuild it?
Thanks

In my opinion, rebuilding it is best as one never knows the real condition of an unknown use transmission you get from a junkyard.

Shop around and get prices on rebuild transmissions and use transmissions and compare what would be more cost effective and better reliability.

Good luck

My 6-speed went as well in my 04. Same trans as 05. I found one online for around 900 dollars (ebay, from a Junkyard in New Jersey with 70k on it). Bought it. Got a new clutch and flywheel, as well as a new clutch master as well.
Put it all in. Then I rebuilt the old trans about a year later and sold it on ebay for 600 (as it had much higher miles on it and I wanted to sell it quickly).
