HFL volume delay
Hey,
I have a Samsung Instinct phone and whenever I recieve a call there is a 3 second delay where I can't hear them and they can't hear me...Then, suddenly, the volume kicks in and all is well.
Any ideas?
Also, do you know if there's a way to import my phonebook? There seems to be with the US TSX but I have the Canadian one.
Thanks.

Can we presume that you've checked www.HandsFreeLink.com to see if it's fully supported or only partly? You said, survey said...?
With no active call, try "System - Setup - Status" => does it respond that your phone is paired?
Does this happen when you dial a call from HFL with "Dial" or call a phonebook entry with "Call?"

The Instinct isn't listed on HFL.com.
But it works fine in all respects. When I make an outgoing call, all is well - altough it's hard to be 100% sure since there's a delay in the time it takes the phone to start dilaing and then hear the ringing.
The only problem is when I get a call: no volume for 3 seconds.

I experience this with my phone and a Jabra headset. I think it's just muted until ringing actually starts.

For the HFL, how do you increase the volume when you speak to someone? In other words, the person on the other line tells me that I sounds like I am far away but can still hear me good. Is there a firmware update or a volume control to improve the quality of the sound going into the mic in the car?

Oliver!!!
None that I am aware of. The mic is located in the center of the headliner just forward of the sunroof where the HomeLink and map lights are. Bear that in mind when you're talking I guess. I haven't gotten any complaints from anybody I've spoken to. If anything, they've all said that they can't tell when I'm on it.
And for the second part of the OPs question (in case anybody else stumbles upon this thread) the 1G TSX doesn't support the phonebook import. I know the TL does, and I think the 2G TSX does, but I'm unsure of the other Acura models.

Due to the location of the mic, close the moonroof cover and turn the HVAC/climate controls down if people have trouble hearing you. If they still have trouble hearing you, slow down to below 80 mph.

I am usually below 80 mph and the moonroof is mostly closed when I drive. You mean turn the dual climate control off? Would that help? What's HVAC? Do people tell you that you sound a little far away when talking to the mic in the car? I wonder if it's my phone's bluetooth.

I was joking about the speed. By "moonroof" cover I'm referring to the "shade"; this dampens outside noise a bit.
HVAC is another term for 'air conditioning.' Yes, turn the fan speed down to minimum (usually the case after driving a while, but in really cold or really warm weather...).
Yes sometimes people say I'm a little hard to hear, but that could be because I'm traveling while talking. Traveling from one cell to another can do that, IIRC.
