I dont know if its from the transmission or what but i can hear a single slight knock and feel it on the stick on my 6 speed right when i start the car and go when its cold. is that ABS trying to test itself or normal for a 6 speed?

It's probably the ABS self-test. I get that in my '04 Accord too.

Thank you for posting this. I was wondering what the heck that was! I thought it was something with the tranny, it was really bothering me. I didn't know quite how to explain it.

this is probably the 10th manifestation of the same thread. it might be your fuel tank sliding around.

I don't have this knocking noise in my TSX, but I had a steering wheel knocking noise before, whenever I turned the wheel in either direction. It drove me nuts!

I recently had my car serviced and mentionned this perculiar sound and of course they came back to me with 'unable to duplicate problem'?

Anyone else have this sound looked into?

My six speed TSZ has the same the single knocking as well. I have been wondering about that for a long time. I guess it was good that I hold off posting the same question, so I did not get flamed.

I forgot to tell you, its ONLY when i start accelerating, not when being idle... i can only compare the feeling and sound to a rock hitting the underside of your car pretty hard....

This happens when you're moving your steering wheel to the left while reversing too right?

Or is it just my car?

With my old Accord, I noticed that every morning driving to work, about 5 min after starting the car and while accelerating to cruising speed, I would get this 1/2 second loss of power. It's as if my engine cut off for a half second. It was ONLY during the first drive the of the day. Any idea what that was?

I believe this is the same thing that has been covered in a previous thread.

I heard that the "thump" you hear is just the ABS system check itself.
It's is normal, so you don't have to worry. It should only happen once when you first start the car. I hear it everyday after I back out of the drive way, shift to drive, and take my first turn.

There is an older thread that talks about this. Let me see if I can locate it.

sounds like the abs motor engaging
You don't say? That might be because it is the ABS motor engaging for a second to test itself?
