Front Driver Side Wheel Whooshing / Squeaking / Scraping
Hey all, I've got a 06 TSX (90k miles). I started noticing the faintest wooshing/warbling/swishing sound when I would turn hard left or right at slow speeds (pulling in and out parking spots for example).
In the past 2,000 miles or so it has gotten quite a bit worse, now I hear it when I turn the wheel at all, and even hear it if I'm against a wall (like at a drive-thru) and it sounds like it's coming from the front driver side.
I found this thread:
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...nt+wheel+noise
I was thinking it was likely the CV joint, since it is so much worse when turning. However, in my experience CV joints usually make more of a clicking sound. I'm sure finding the appropriate verb to describe the sound would help me find the answer, but the above thread was the closest I could get and wasn't very detailed.
I'm ruling out braking system, as I believe anything scraping against the rotor would happen regardless of wheel position (and probably woulnd't get progressivley worse over time).
Wheel bearing seemed to be my first thought, but I'd also wonder if turning/wheel position would really matter. This has led me to think it is the CV joint, but now the car is making the noise going straight (it gets faster/slower with wheel speed), but seems to go away over 5-10mph going straight.
Is there any definitive method to determine if it is CV joint vs. bearings?
Sorry for the long post, want to be as thorough as possible. Also, I'm sure it is coincidence but my steering wheel has started making a scraping sound (which seems so common in old Honda's/Acura's) when turning from side to side, I'm thinking maybe cable reel? Only from time to time I get it.
Thanks in advance, any/all help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Justin
