Finallay An official Fix for Door Rattling and Buzzing

I was called my dealer this morning and they said that a fix for the driver and passenger front door buzz/rattle has come through from Acura.

The TSB# is 04-024

Finally after having to listen to the door buzz and rattle for a year it appears all of us who have experienced this problem can get it fixed.

Where can we go to to get this TSB shown in here? This would be an automatic FAQ thread then.

Not sure where to post it because I'm pretty much a noob to this site. All I know is that I was just called by Ed Morse Acura in Pompano Beach, FL and this was the bullitin number they gave me. I've had my TSX since May 2003 and it has rattled the whole time. I'm excited in prospects of actually getting it fixed.

Weird, it's not on ALLDATA yet. Did you get a chance to read the TSB? I'd be interested in what their fix is.

I'm not sure of the specifics of the fix. The service rep did mention that there is some part that is involved with this fix so it might take a week or 2 for the dealers to get it. I brought my car in earlier this week and they said they couldn't fix it. Then they just called me this morning with this new information they just got. The only reason I have the number is because i'm moving tomorrow and i will get it fixed up in my new destination

My recent TSX loaner had the rattling problem everytime I heard music, then when I got my car back, I noticed a slight vibration/rattling coming from the same exact spot.

I guess once everything gets official here, I'll bring it to the dealer and mention to TSB?

I just took in my car for the 2nd scheduled maintenance and asked them to look at my rattles . She didn't seem to think it was unusual.. hopefully they fix my rattlebox!

Oh.. and another thing. My front emblem got stolen and I asked my dealer how much it costs to replace. They told me 45 for the emblem and 45 to install it... needless to say.. i didn't go with it.. does anyone know how much it costs to get a front emblem?!?!

Just called Schaller Acura (Manchester, CT) 5 minutes ago and spoke with my man George. Highly recommend this dealership for service if you're in the Hartford area

Anyway, he said he hadn't heard of the TSB yet, but he looked it up in the Acura database and found it, so no one else should have an issue asking there respective dealers. It talked about replaced the window seals and placing sound dampening plates around the speakers.....stuff like that.

So he's ordering it for me along with the driver's seat mount that they are replacing to fix the infamous shift o' seat under braking. It's all covered under warranty no questions asked...this kicks so much ass!

I asked him if he could email it to me, but wasn't sure if he was alowed to...said no one had asked him that before He said he had no problem printing it for me if I came in, so I'll scan a copy for you guys as soon as I get it

Great news!

The TSX has alot of rattles. I'd really like to see the details of this TSB to see if it will fix my problems.

I'll bet a 6-pack the fix is in the window motor. It just rolls up too high and warps everything out of place. If they can get it to roll up a couple of mm less, i think that would fix the problem.

Anyways, details please ... if possible

I was actually thinking about making the trip from albany to go to them. I've heard good things about them before. I really don't know how Northeast Acura will react to me having aftermarket speakers in the doors already. I don't want them to blame the new speakers on the rattling problem. The rattle isn't coming from the speaker anyway, it's coming from somewhere near the lock.

More info.....not really busy at work today so I've been trying to get someone to fax it to me and it's not as easy as one would think. I did find out though that this TSB came out yesturday (8/10/04), so no one is going to know about it off the tops of their heads when you call the dealer....just a heads up.

That's a toughie....from Albany to Hartford it's about 2 hours if you take 90 to 91. I'm originally for Syracuse and I'm actually passing through the capital area on my way home for a wedding this weekend. Are Upstate dealers not that good? Is there anything in the Utica area that might be able to help you out? Just a thought. Schaller Acrura is great though

OK...update....getting info piece by piece...the TSB only applies to VIN #s JH4CL9-4C000001 thru 4C016871.

Also, I guess it's not the door seals they replace, Morande Acura (New Britain, CT) said that they don't replace anything, instead they add a "wool matt" to the inside of the door frame and a plate around the speakers. This is all second hand dribble, but I'm still trying to get my hands on the real deal....what a pain!

So, it looks like the problem was resolved after about the 16000th car was produced. Which would explain why some people have rattles and some dont. Can we tell anytyhing else from those vins?

I hope Canada got the same TSB with appropriate VIN range as well.

These service departments are starting to get down right rude now. I was just told by Inskip Acura (Rhode Island) that I can't get any information unless the "certified" service technicians diagnose the problem. She said, in a very condescending tone of voice, that she understands that the public has access to TSBs, but the intention is not "self-diagnoses." "Would you like to set up an appt?" "Uh, no....thank you." What a load of crap!

Just buy the emblem and put it on yourself...it just snaps in. Very easy. Oh, and the dealer shouldn't even be charging you to install it...we ALWAYS do that sort of thing for free at Camco Acura (Ottawa).

45 bucks for an emblem is still too steep for me. I think I'll search around to see if i can find one cheaper.

This is good news! the only reason the car isnt perfect is the rattles (oh and it would be cool if it went 0-60 in 4 sec)

My car's in the 32xxx range and I sometimes get it. It's very inconsistent, but it's there on the pass. side door
It's so infrequent it doesn't really bother me.

When I pulled my pass door on my early-production car, I found broken plastic welds that hold the door pocket against the back of the door panel. The plastic looked to be mis-molded, and there wasn't much plastic there to start with, so pulling the door panel off made it worse (popped another weld).

I re-welded them with my propane soldering torch. Just finished a road trip from Portland OR to Whistler BC. Some bad roads on that trip, and not a single buzz or rattle out of the pass door!

I just took my car to the dealer today and mentioned about this TSB. The service rep looked up the TSB and he did find it. However, he said it was for 'Buzzing sound when speakers are at high volume', and does not mention the creaking sound. He said he'll take a look and see what he can do, so we'll see how that goes.

Got a base RSX as a loaner btw, the car wasn't as free-revving as I thought it should be, it was quick from a stop, but I thought it was a bit slow even compared to the TSX..... maybe because it was a loaner??
