clickin noise on clutch
hello,
im not sure if this is a problem or not but for the last week ive noticed a lil click sound everytime i press on the clutch to change gears. i dont know if this is normal or not, but i dont recall hearing it before. its not just changing of the gears that i hear it, even when its parked and i press on the clutch i can hear it also. its a very minor sound, but its bugging the hell out of me. is this normal?

Maybe everyone has real sensitive ears but could it be that you're hearing the interlock switch? There's a switch somewhere in the clutch that keeps the car from starting without the clutch being depressed. Maybe you're hearing that.

does this click occur even when not changing gears? my integra did this whenever i pressed on the clutch pedal. the acura dealer said it had something to do with the ball spring or something like that and it was expensive to fix since it required taking the clutch mechanism apart. my integra had 80k miles.

at least yours is just a li'l click. mine makes a distinct *creeeaaaak* (think rusted spring) every once in a while, most notably when the temperature is a bit warmer.
first time i brought it in for service was unfortunately back in november when it was a bit cooler out, so dealer couldn't reproduce it, but they lubed something. sad to say, that didn't do diddly squat. next service appointment is next month, so hopefully the weather will be hot enough to cause the spring to creak again. drives me nuts whenever that happens, that's for sure.

My 6MT had the clicking noise also. Now with 155xx miles it is no longer present. I have had both clutch relays replaced - an upper & a lower. This was the cause of my car starting problems I was experiencing early on.

I haven't had this problem with my TSX (yet), but the new Accord has clutch-click issues, so no surprise we've got it. I think I came across this issue on the TL board too.

My 91 Integra had this same click. I drove it for 14 years without problems. I think it was the interlock to prevent you from starting the car unless the clutch is in (as biker stated).

Jason,
Im currently away for school and there isnt an Acura dealership nearby that I know of, but I called Acura and they say the noise is common to ALL Acuras. The service guy said the new TL and NSX had them, I will check it out when Im on spring break. Is everyone experiencing this or is it just me?

I can hardly hear the click, but I can feel it in my foot when I depress and then release the clutch pedal. The clutch still works fine after 20k miles so I'm not worried.

Can't wait to drive
I had that creaking a few weeks after I got my car..but I think it's not a critical problem, just hella annoying.
Don't mean to threadjack, but since we're on the topic of the clutch, is anyone's rubber padding on the clutch pedal getting really worn? I think it's the way I use it, but the entire left edge is getting really rounded off, I'll probably need to replace the rubber pedal cover in less than a year.

Geeeeeee......are there any other problems that are going to surface in this car! It's becoming a real issue for us people who are concidering buying a TSX.
On another note........I took my first test drive this weekend. As I was driving I paid attentiion and tried to be aware of all the problems that i've been reading about on this site. I listened for rattles......there weren't any.....the brakes felt fine...the seat didn't move and the sunroof didn't squeak.I actually ahd a great time. The dealer let me go alone because I have an 02 RSX type S and they know me. Plus.......I'm not a young dude hahaha..Anyway......the car felt really great. Plenty of spunk and that 6sp. was just amaxing.

Add me to the list. The noise just started today when the weather really warmed up. I'll give it a few days and see if it goes away on its own if not then I'll set up an appointment to have it checked out.

My clutch has also just started "clicking"...it's been an off & on thing ever since I got the car (a little less than a year ago). It doesn't seem to be anything other than annoying...and I know the "relay" you're talking about - this isn't it.
BTW, I'm at just under 20,000 kms on my TSX and I'm still lovin' it!

I am Ahab!
Got my creaking/clicking fixed yesterday.
The worst part of the creak wasn't so much the noise but the fact that you could feel it every time you moved the pedal up or down.
Had them check it out with the oil change and it was a "bushing" of some sort that was out of place. Took it out lubed it and put it back in place and the problems gone

ok where is this bushing in relation the pedal? id like to lube mine rather then the dealer bc its less stressful. Ill go in and tell them of the squeak and theyll probably say they dont hear it blah blah blah, and if i tell them to lube the bushing ill get attitude as always. so if someone can help me locate the actual bushing as opposed to the pin or rod, id appreciate it. thanks
