CEL P0135 and replacement - Need guidance

My CEL came on with code P0135 P0135 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 1).

I understand this is the front O2 sensor before the cat converter.

Can anyone confirm the gizmo with the blue wire is the O2 sensor I need to replace?

Yes, that is Air Fuel Sensor, not Oxygen Sensor in front of the flexible exhaust pipe segment.

Note, P0135 is a fault in the heater circuit for the AF sensor. Problem is likely sensor, but can be damaged wiring, connector, or even faulty ECM. Diagnostics are necessary to confirm fault.

good luck

Please confirm that it's the air flow sensor. The code reports O2 sensor as the issue.

Read the post carefully. Assuming you have a 2004-2008, it has an Air-Fuel sensor, not an oxygen sensor.

good luck

That is correct part. Same part is available for ~$100 less; rockauto or amazon.

Note, w/o any diagnostics you run the risk of finding the problem was wiring, connector, or ECM.

good luck

The car only has 30k miles on it (yes it's not drive that much). I think I put a bad batch of gas into it as I took a road trip and stopped at a gas station that didn't look used that often. THe check engine light came on then went away after I filled it up with gas a second time at a busy gas station.

I may reset the codes and see if it comes back on.

Failure of O2 sensor or AF sensor heating element is fairly common, but some diagnostics are indicated to avoid a surprise. Gasoline quality would not affect heater element.

good luck
