Bumpy new ride? Check your tire pressure!

This cannot be emphasized enough. I took delivery several days ago, but only checked my tire pressure this morning. (It's a cold check, so should be pretty accurate.) It was more than 40 for all four tires!

BTW, the recommended tire pressue should be 32/30. (front/rear)

Yup..I had the same problem, and have posted about it before. Many others have had this problem too I believe. My tires were around 45 psi. They are all 35 now and the ride is MUCH better.

I think they over inflate the tires during shipping....but most of these dealers are sloppy and dont bother to check.

Mine now is 33/31.

The thing that annoyed me was that they had checked off the predelivery item named "check/set tire pressure."

Makes you wonder the value of taking your car to the dealer for much of the scheduled service which is mainly just a series of checking? Maybe be best to just get the standard oil change and check the components yourself?

This is my first Acura, and so far I have been very unimpressed with the Acura service department.

My tire pressure was very high on delivery as well, they were all well over 40. I noticed it the day after I took delivery on May.

I realized a long time ago that dealers were just claiming to check a vehicle before sale.
Hang around the dealership and notice how many cars they have for sale are being serviced.
You might see them detailed or dents pulled but I have never seen them take a new, and only 1 used car through service.
As with anything, your on your own..

I want to thank you guys for this heads-up. When I took delivery Thursday, I was thinking of things to check before I drove away. I remembered to ask them to check the tire pressure. Sure enough, mine was at 38 all around. My salesman was surprised and of course, the box was checked for tire inspection. My salesman took out some pressure and even threw in the gauge he was using.

Props to all you for creating awareness. It's stuff like this that makes the site so valuable.

I addressed this issue quite sometime ago on here (or perhaps on the old site).

When a buddy of mine checked my pressure there wasn't a tire on the car that was under 40psi (the left-rear tire was at 46psi!!!) and this was after I'd been driving the car for 2 weeks and exceded my break-in period.

Let me add my thanks, too. Mine were all at 45+psi! At 32/30, the ride is much better!

I feel 32/30 is too soft and front tires esp looked flat.
I like it better at 34/32 (cold).

Cold or Hot?
Max pressure on OEM tire is 44 psi.
This can be dangerous if cold air pressure is over 40 psi when you generally pick up 3-5 psi increase while driving.

As cold as they ever are in a South Florida summer. I checked them around 9:00am one morning before driving that day. Seems like they were as high as 42-43 cold, so definitely could have warmed up to over 44 psi.

I hope you have corrected the problem.

Yep. It was nearly a month that I drove with them like that though. Now they're around 33-35. I'll probably lower them to 32/30 soon.
