Anyone getting a slight grind with 1-2 shift?
sometimes, when i shift from 1-2, i get a slight grind.
even when i shift slowly. it happens in 1 of 10 shifts.
is this something that is normal amongst tsx's because i have searched and read some people with this problem.
is this a bad synchro or tranny? i never drive it hard and i baby it, although it was my first manual tranny car and it did take beating of a new driver.
i have a 2006 tsx 13k miles
thank you.

It's normal. The jump in ratio between 1 and 2 is huge. If you jam it in without giving the synchroes time to work, you'll wear them out quicker. Keep pressure on the shifter in the direction of second gear until it pops in. When the gears are matched just right it should slide in fairly smoothly. There still might be a little notchiness (not so much grinding though) but that's normal.

Hell no grinding from 1-2 shift isn't normal especially on a car with 13k miles. If you are shifting correctly there should not be any grinding. You did say this is your first MT car. Maybe during the course of you adapting to a MT, you wore out the synchros in 1 and second gear.

Yes, I have this problem.
It's worse when the car is cold - the transmission requires extra force going into 2nd.
I can't figure it. Sometimes it's smooth as butter. Sometime ugh. (About 13K miles, just like yours -- it's been this way since I bought it).
(And I've never purchased an car with an automatic -- almost 30 years of driving manuals)

it feels and sounds like, as someone on this forum or another has described, as if i rubbed two granola bars together.
it is about as loud and feels similar; both are very light, but noticable when paying attention.
