Anti-Fouler

Can someone please explain to me what an anti-fouler is? I have the RT cat and keep on getting a cel i've tried everything and it still comes back on. I've been reading people have done an anti-fouler and resolved the prob. but what is it?

When you say you've tried everything, what have you done so far?

An anti-fouler is a spacer that is intended for use with spark plugs to stop them from fouling. If you drill out the middle you can use one or 2 of them to get your O2 sensor away from the exhaust which usually surpresses the CEL. In fact, people have used this trick to run test pipes...

This is a little obvious if you have emissions checks. The Anit-fouler MIGHT make it past an inspection.

Both parts (above and the RT Cat) are polished stainless. After some driving they would look like a pretty good match!

I've tried an anti-fouler, and also one looks like the Weapon R in L-shape. Both give me CEL after a long period of time.

I think what modaway meant is the Weapon-R piece is a very obviously non-stock shape. The standard anti-fouler can blend in easier since it's a short straight piece.

I installed my anti-fouler purchased from Autozone. After drilling down, not all the way through, with a 1/2" bit to provide clearance (thanks for the advice JTso), no CEL for 24hrs.

Oh, just kicking a CEL since winter when they started with the oxygenated gas shyte they put in here. Well, the CEL went off and it was associated to the 2nd O2 sensor stating the cat wasn't running efficiently. Absolutely not concerned about it since high flow cats are doing minimal work on the exhaust gas. Took the TSX out for a quick run up to 120mph for 2 miles of mostly untraveled highway here (flew past a TL Type S, thought maybe he'd try to run me down) and then ran it on a traffic packed highway this morning... still no CEL.

Chuson, did you drill all the way through? I drilled mine just like Moda_way mentioned and never got CELs after that.

if using the spark plug kit from autozone, do you have to drill it? I saw in another thread that moda said the o2 sensor would bottom out.. but mine fit in just fine.

I originally tried using the spark plug defouler from Autozone, and my 02 sensor most definitely did not fit - it bottomed out. I ordered a pre-drilled defouler from some muppet on eBay and that worked fine, no CEL since installing that about a year ago. No drill, no workbench = I'll be damned if I could have done it myself.

One single anti-fouler should be all you need. I can't think why you'd persist in having problems, it's not like this is a testpipe or anything. What other forums are these? I know of one... no other forums are particularly qualified to speak about the TSX.

You should be all set.

hah.. well believe it or not i did not have a 1/2" BIT!!!! grrrrr. i only had 1/4... lol. so i tried to file the rest... i'm gonna go buy a 1/2" bit now.. garage space at my parents house sucksssss.. i miss my apt garage... also the other forums were s2k forums.. and rsx forums that did the same exact mod... i'm already so close. i'm just going to buy the 1/2" bit and do it again tomorrow...
i almost broke down and bought one off ebay like you did audioserf.. but i figure i maybe able to use the bit later so might as well not waste any more money. wish me luck tomorrow!

You may want to look into the electronic CEL eliminators. It's a little box that splices into the O2 sensor wire and electronically modifies the signal to put it where the ECU wants it to be. I have no first hand experience with these though.
