6MT Clutch Click and Master Cylinder Replacement

Hi, all. Newbie here and I am not familiar with mechanical work.

Sorry to start yet another thread on the clutch click problem. The dealer is getting the master cylinder replaced (keeping my fingers crossed) under warranty.

My question: Is there much labor saving to have clutch plate and release (throw out) bearing replaced at the same time? I start getting that grinding sound caused by the wearing on the t/o bearing as discussed in some other thread.

Thanks all in advance.

Daniel

Almost no labour savings at all -- the master cylidner is located nowhere near the bearing (which is inside the transmission -- the master cylinder is mounted on the firewall).

Make sure they replace the slave cylinder at the same time. I replaced the master cylinder in my Miata and the slave blew up about a month later because it couldn't take the increased pressure from the new master cylinder.

When it rains it pours. My clutch has just started clicking when fully pressed. The click happens all the way at the floor. And i can feel the click slightly with my foot. Does this mean the master cylinder is going out? Can i replace this myself? And how much would a repair cost?

As far as any of us know, there is no updated CMC (master cylinder), so getting a new one will only delay another click from returning. If you check the massive thread (I started it!), the common solution is to spray some lubricant into the master cylinder piston, which is easy to see once you look up at the mechanism attached to the clutch pedal and push the pedal in.
