If you want something that actually tiny and super light, and willing to sacrifice a little image quality, you can try a Pentax Optio S4.

4 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, for only 4.1oz, which is about half of what a S400 weights.

I use a Konica-Minolta G400...which is 4 megapixel, 3x optical. It has more manual options than an S400, has practically no shutter lag...it takes less than a couple seconds to turn on the camera, take a picture, and turn it off. It comes in about a similar size as the S400 and takes just as decent pictures. It uses both a SD/MMC and Memory Stick. So, you can switch between the two memory cards. I have a 128MB Memory Stick, and 256MB SD card for a combined total of 384MB of space. IMO, it's the better camera to buy, especially when more than half your friends own a cheezy S400...hehehe.

I have a Canon Rebel G right now...and I love the SLR concept a great deal. I like having the ability to hook up a nice lens or a flash, so that pretty much means I'll be going for a Digital SLR.

So, in the next little while, I'll hopefully be buying a Digital Rebel, with a 28-200mm Image Stabilizer lens...and maybe a flash.

However, since Bowersan mentioned the D70 (which I hadn't heard of), I may get that...and my brother and I can share lenses and flashes (he's got a F65 or something).

I have a Canon S50. An excellent all-around camera - great image quality, all the features I need, and small enough to carry around.

Check out the comparative review of the Digital Rebel and the D70 on www.dpreview.com. It is VERY in depth, and it pretty much speaks for itself.
The only thing keeping me considering the digital rebel is the silver casing... much shiner than the black!

I use a Olympus Stylus 400 digital camera. It's a great little 4 megapixel camera. I recommend it.

Sounds like the D70 is a really nice camera.

But, for me, the few things that the D70 excels at over the Rebel, I'd never notice, since I'm not a really high-end photographer....so, the extra $300CAD would really be wasted on me. I'd rather spend that extra money on a lens or bigger flash, etc. Plus, since I already have a Rebel G, if I ever need to shoot actual film, I can go back to it and use the flashes and lenses on both bodies.

The only thing I'd have liked to see on the Rebel would be a focus assist....it would help. However, in most situations that would need a focus assist, you'd need a flash anyway, so it's not a huge deal. What they should do is to put a laser assist focus on there, like the beam the flashes fire...much more effective than a wimpy light, and less distracting.

So, for the moment, if the Nikon doesn't come down in price to the Rebel's price point, I'll probably be going with the Canon.

Oh...and I really like silver anyway (my TV is silver, my PowerBook is silver, my 18" flat panel is silver, my 1.7EL is silver, my TSX will be silver..... ).

Cool

I use a Nikon Coolpix 990 (which since I got it has been replaced by the Coolpix 995 and then the Coolpix 4500...

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikoncp990/

It has a swivel body, which makes for very flexible and creative picture taking.

I use MAHA PowerEX 2200 mAH AA Rechargeable NiMH Batteries. Those things are great! I can go a whole day shooting on one set. Highly recommended! You can get them here...

I finally got my Sony DSC-P72. Received it on 3/18 (had an interesting adventure with UPS), went and snapped a few photos yesterday and I'm very happy. Works great for a point-n-shoot. Now I can share pix with the rest of you. Here's one:

Edit: Well, don't know why the picture won't display. I tried to host it at Webshots.com. Here's a link: http://community.webshots.com/user/jlukja

I have to agree with you, I have the Sony V-1 also and it is a bit too sensitive all the time. Especially if there is a little movement.

But other than that it takes some sweet pics.

I have an Olympus C-4000. I really like the photos that it takes - it has a great lens and CCD, but it is a bit big and uses a dying medium, so I wouldn't recommend it. We bought my future sis-in-law a Canon A70 and it is very impressive - I'd definitely recommend that.

I sell digital cameras at Best Buy I can say if you want something easy as hell go with kodak probably the dx 6440 or dx 6490. the Sony V1 and T1 are my favorites and the canon s500 and s410 are pretty good for the money but the compact flash card is bad. it is real slow but its pretty cheap. the sony memory stick is good to use and the kodak uses the secure digital memory card which is good. the xd memory cards are one of the best so olympus is also very good. probably the stylus 410 or 300.

I have a Canon G3 that I bought about a year ago. I've picked up a few accessories, the lens adapter, some filters, etc. I'm very happy with the camera and don't regret the purchase, but if I were doing it again, I'd probably buy a more compact model like the S50 or s400. The extra features of the G3 are nice but the reality is that the basic camera you actually have with you is infinitely more useful than the fancy one you left at home. I've found that for my use, I'd do better with a really small camera that I can carry anywhere.

I just got a sony dsc-t1 yesterday. Don't know too much about photography but I love the fact that the quality of the pictures is 5mp and yet the camer is so tiny. The screen on the back of the camera is huge also.

Exactly, I knew I wasn't a huge camera guy but since it was so small it would not be a hassle to take around with me so I figured why not? Its been very useful in quite a few situations already and well worth the money.
