don't forget to clean the header with some denatured alcohol before you start it up for the first time to make sure you get all finger prints off. It will insure a consistent color across the header.

Really? What exhaust are you running? Mine is very stable at idle and I have CT Header and Cat-back with RT Cat.

That vibration is one of the reasons i have thought about not getting it (mostly cause i just bought wheels an still need tires those!) but shouldn't in theory, there be no vibration assuming that you tighten everything down good enough? And don't you need to double up your gaskets somewhere? I thought i remembered reading that on maybe your install guide Ryan??

That's the reason I asked about the vibration. My CT exhaust, w/out quiet tips in, has such a rumble that it does "vibrate" the interior.

You only needed to double up the gaskets between the RT Cat and Cat-back exhaust. The CT header has the ring gasket included, which mates up to either the OEM or RT cat (DC header requires reuse and I don't know about the others out there).

Did it come with a new exhaust manifold gasket? Are the gaskets paper-type or what are they?

double gaskets are used between the cat and exhaust. this is done when you get RT cat. i think excessive vibration is caused from comptech's one piece design. and its vibration is resonated creating noise. you'll get used to the noise

Yes. TMK, CT is the only one that sends a new gasket (not for the engine side, but on the header to cat side). It is just a metallic ring. You can see it on their website.

I mean the other side though, gasket from the engine to the exhaust manifold. There is a gasket there on the stock header, did you re-use that one? A service tech advised me not to when I got my header, but mine came with 3 gaskets, exhaust manifold, a-pipe, and a cat gasket. (2 piece header, so 3 necessary) But they were all paper gaskets, a kind of a metallic cardboard. Extreme low quality.

I went ahead and got a new gasket where the header meets the engine block. Because I new it was so thin, I didn't want to take the change and score it or bend it and get an exhaust leak. I've learned over the years that spending the few $$ for a new gasket (for whatever) is much easier at the time of install than later.

Sorry Noob question.

Does the Header gasket = to Head gasket? From what I read, the gasket will increase the compression ratio and increase performance??? Not sure if it's true but I wish someone can confirm this.

BTW: If I bring my header gasket to a shop for install, they will generally charged a "Header Install" price since the header required to take off to put the gasket on?

Always a good idea to get new gaskets, this is what I would do as well. I was just wondering if Comptech came with one. Now I know to order one as well, thanks.
