Yeah...if you can't tell already, I love electronics...
I "think" I'm done with the a/v stuff now, so now I'm working on exterior and performance.

I commute everyday, so I like to try to keep myself busy. The freeway is clear by the time I leave, so it gives me a chance to use my stuff. I make sure to stay safe and never touch the stuff in traffic though.

Wow, that's quite a setup. No need for a home entertainment system.

BTW, the girl in the pic next to you needs to get out into the sun. She's looking awfully pale.

How much did you pay for the Avic N1 and did you do the install yourself? I'm looking to buy this one or wait for the N2. The screen hits anything above it? I have LOTS of question regarding this. I'll let you answer some right now. Thanks!

I got it professionally installed at first, but since I've went back, added components, and redid all of the wiring. If I could do it all over again, I would have just did it myself. Buy the mp3 attachment kit and it's a pretty easy install IHMO.

Also, read this thread:
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=288060

This should answer some of your questions. If you have more you can just hit me up on PM.

Dan is right. The RCA lyra is not controlled by the N1's touch screen. That would be I keep the RCA Lyra in the center armrest or in the cupholder when I use it. I drilled a small hole in the armrest area so the wiring is all ran into there.

Jigga I have it hooked up through the AUX input of the facotry HU so I can still use the factory 6 disc and the steering wheel controls. I also took some advice from another thread you posted in a long time ago and got a line driver. Boy did that make it sound better

Damn..I was hoping no one would notice that. Itz was for my ex. I have a bunch of stuff I extracted off of the Tivo to make room for other shows. Only way she would let me delete the stuff off the Tivo was to put them on the Lyra. Women are so difficult.

You got a nice system there Jigga...I bet it bumps hard. Man...sometimes I wonder if I should get another 12 too. Do the 2 12s take up a lot of trunk space?

yeah it takes up a decent amount of space for sure. 2 twelves is probably overkill, i'm not sure, i'd like to actually switch to a single higher quality 12 one of these days to save some space.

I see man. If you change get like a JL W6 or W7. I heard if you got one of those you can run just 1 sub and it will slump. They can cost some serious dough though. Especially if get a W7 in one of the vented JL boxes.

Do you happen to have a pic of your trunk?

Thanks for the compliments

The N2 will definitely have RCA outputs that go into the SNHOND3. It actually has 3 sets of RCA outputs, but you only want to use the Fronts because that is the only output that you can hear the navigation voice. It sounds like you want to retain your current XM receiver. In order to do this you need to hook up the output of the N2 to the SNHOND3, and then hook the RCA output of the XM radio into the AUX input on the N2.

So with your setup the sound will flow as followed:
XM RCA Output --> Pioneer RB10 cable ---> N2 brain ---> N2 RCA Front RCA outputs --> SNHOND3 --> Factory HU AUX input

The Pioneer RB10 input I mentioned is below. This converts the Pioneer IPBUS into RCA inputs:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...756474712&rd=1

If I were you I would also put a line driver in to help boost the output of the RCAs:
http://www.audiooutfitter.com/store/TURBO1.html

And you will mostly need a GLI, but I'm assuming you have one since you already have something hooked to your SNHOND3.

For the power. How are you sending power to your XM unit currently?

Okay...that's fine. Are you planning to leave the XM unit hooked up via the cig lighter?

Are you planning to do the install yourself?
Are you comfortable taking apart the center console and removing the factory HU?

If you're willing to scrap the XM unit, then you can just buy the Pioneer Xm unit later for the N2, or you can also get Sirius radio instead. I just got Sirius and I'm really liking it so far. If you're interested it's the Pioneer SIR-PNR1.

I would run new wiring and not tap into the factory HU. I would get power for the unit straight from the battery, but you could also get all of the wires you need from the steering wheel column. ACC, constant, ground are there for sure.

I'm not sure about the illumination wire. I know it's present on the 20 pin harness that connection to the factory HU, but I'm not 100% which wire it is at the steering column. Take a look at post #71 in this thread. This user grab a illumination signal for the 2004 illuminated steering wheel mod. Sounds like the Ill. pin is there, but there is not wire, so you'll have to attach your own to the harness.
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...9&page=3&pp=25

This isn't too difficult and I had to do the same thing in order to hook up the VSS wire to the ECU.

If you don't wanna tap into the steering column/ignition then you could also run these wires, by tapping into the fuse box. This is more ghetto, but an easier DIY project. I wouldn't recommend it, but it's so easy, I should mention it.

Here's a good diagram for you from this thread:
https://acurazine.com/forums/sho...hlight=tsx+fuse

Nice setup! How is your TV reception? What antennas are you using and where are they placed? I get great reception when I am not moving, but when I am moving, its kinda like the wind is blowing the antenna on the side of the house.

Also, was the pioneers spedometer dealy a plaug and play thing or did you have to splice wires?

Check out the last post in this thread. Someone asked about my Tv reception the other day.
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15158

Basically, I was suprised by how good my reception has been. I live pretty close to a bunch of the TV antennas and I mostly only watch TV on the freeway so that might be why my reception is good.

I still get that "wind blowing on the side of the house" effect occasionally, but it's not bad at all. I barely hear any static when that happens, and that was one of my main concerns. I didn't want to have the volume cranked up only to have a bunch of crackling hurt my ears.

The Pioneer TV tuner comes with 4 diversity antennas. I have this mounted around the edges of the rear windshield. Itz pretty stealth. For the Pioneer, you do you have to splice/tap into wires. Only the VSS and reverse wires though. The GPS brain in the N1 handles the majority of the processing related to the performance guages.

Hey CJams, what kind of TV antenna came with your tv tuner? You have an alpine right?

It's a Pioneer N1 that had been upgraded to the Pioneer N2. It runs for about $1200 or so. If you have some install experience, It isn't hard to install. If you end up getting one, I can tell you what wires you need to tap into.
