Trip out to skyline drive...

I took a trip out to skyline drive yesterday to test out the suspension before I make some upgrades. Even though the weather wasn't perfect it was amazing out there. God, the roads out there really emphasize the TSX's strengths. Its amazing. Anyone who is unsure about their decision to buy a TSX needs to find some roads like these...

And someone else had climbed a tree to get a good view of me driving by...

sweet pics! i wish MI (or somewhere in the midwest for that matter) had roads/scenic routes like that!! the best road i went on was the Pikes Peak historic highway in CO (ALL roads in CO was amazing), but I was in my dad's XL Denali, so didn't get to have any fun.

is that a bear/cub in that last pic?!?

Nice pics my fellow canyon carver. I'd be a bit hesitant to go near that bear though...

Yeah it was a bear... I had never seen one before and I knew it was a bad idea to hang out around a cub cause his mom wouldn't be far away but she didn't show up when I was there.

Looks like you got the mugen grille installed. You need to eliminate the chrome strip on the hood. Lookin' good otherwise.

I should head out there at some point, but I've just been way too busy...

the silverstars he has on his car can't clear the brembos on the TL. im assuming he painted it black and put on the acura decal himself.

Now you know one of the main reasons I got my TSX here. I drive in the mountains here a few times a week and the TSX sticks like glue. It is awesome.

I did it myself... search for "paint calipers" and you should find a write up with pics. You can check my cardomain site as well.

Well, it's just that I am not aware there's an area called skyline drive pretty cool name, looks like the roads fit that name perfectly too!

There's a Sea-to-Sky highway in BC that connects Greater Vancouver to Whistler (where 2010 Winter Olympics will be ) Cool name for the roads too... I haven't driven it in over 6 years, it was tight and twisty; last time I drove it in my '98 Prelude, very FUN). I heard they've widen it and added lanes in some stretches to make it safer, but it should still be twisty.

The Skyline Drive is in the Shenandoah National Park, its 109 miles long. It's by far my favorite place to drive ever. Here's a map

Got the car in April, but I soon plan to get different tires for the two seasons (winter and nice) because our fall and spring literally last only a couple weeks each. After that there is winter and summer. You don't really need snows in Denver, but I drive over 9,000 feet alot in the winter and want studs. They really make a difference up there. Even with OEMs I can still take turns 10-20+mph faster than I would with other cars. Also, mountain passes here in CO don't have many guardrails or widened curves like in the picture, so slowly work your way up to the limit and once you know where that limit for the TSX is you can charge the curves.

BTW, I have a-spec and CT sway...highly recommended for here.

hehe i feel like im hijacking this thread... sorry 'bout that.

i have a 3G 6MT TL w/ CT RSB. i know it won't be as nimble as your car. i actually know there aren't that many guard rails on the mountain roads. i know for a fact that Pikes Peak toll road didn't have ANY... and i went up to 12000 ft.!! i have some cool pics from there, but i think i'd really be hijacking the thread.

thanks for the info, and enjoy your "nice" season.

Now if they could just raise the ridiculously low speed limit....

RT211 approach to Skyline Drive is my favorite.

yeah it was ridiculous but I didn't ever see a cop, averaged about 50-55 mph (its a 35) and I don't really know how they could enforce it. I got up faster sometimes but taking most of the nice curves at around 50 was perfect...

Actually most of the time it's enforced by slow moving RVs and other tourists. Forget going out there on a weekend.
