Smoked Emblem
I finally got extra set of emblems that I bought from Ebay, and did some paint job today. It came out pretty good...but I failed to take off the original and put these new sets back on. Do I have to heat up the 3M tape before I put them on? It just don't stick to the surface strong enough to hold. And I used Goo-Gone stuff to remove previous 3M tape but didn't work. I gotta do some search. Here are some pictures of my new emblem sets.

I used 3M tape that came with M3 Lip Spoiler, I believe they are same stuff as you use to put on the emblem right? I'll try to heat it up before I put them on my car.

goo gone or rubbing compound took mine residue off in 30 seconds..... Plus i used a heat gun and fishing line, overall about a 15 minute job. Looks great by the way!

Looks great!
In order for you to get the orginal glue off you have to use a combo of the heat method and goo gone. First heat the surface up with a heat gun or a blow dryer.....when the surface is hot, take dental floss or fishing line to cut through the adhesive, which should remove most of it. Next take the goo gone and apply generously to a cloth and rub away. Should only take about 15 minutes as CSI said.

also, be careful not to chip the emblems. I tried putting mine on the car and applied some pressure and my hand slipped, chipping the paint to the chrome. the primer didn't do much on that chrome, and sanding the emblems would suck.

I used duplicolor wheel paint because that was all I could find in gunmetal. I would however also use the glossy clear coat on it as well. I didn't and the color was a little too flat.
