Unhappy Scary Moment For My Family Tonight (56k go to ER)

Everybody was safe first and foremost, but my baby doesn't look good right now. I was taking my family out to dinner and all we did was get into a situation were nobody wants to be in. There was nothing I could've done to avoid this as it happened behind me.

We were on this part of the highway where it gets dangerous at times because there is a short merging lane and a freeway exit where it gets backed up. Somehow this kid was apparently going too fast merging into another lane. It hit this big cement mixer that was towed by a pickup and flew nearly on top of my car. It's hard to explain what happened as i was in front and didn't see how it unfold.

I hope this becomes a total loss because she'll be the same. It was nearly flawless when i bought it used few months ago.

Jesus. I'm glad everyone is okay. Your car got crunched dude. And don't worry, that thing is a total. Really glad no one was injured. That speaks to the safety of the car.

holy crap. those pix make me sick to my stomach. glad you and your family are ok. some people really need to be spanked, hard. nobody will really stop you if you wanted to kill yourself, but you have to consider others. glad you are ok. I believe your car will be totalled since the hit is quite severe and there is roof damage. hope you and your family get a speed recovery, both physically and emotionally. remember cars can always be replaced, lives can not.

Thanks everybody! My mom was shook up and was having trouble breathing because of her asthma but she is well now. My sister had a minor cut. Good thing there was tint to protect the glass from flying everywhere or else it would of gotten worse.

Wow you all were very fortunate, from the looks of the pics it could have been much worse.

Glad to hear your family is OK and the injuries were minor.

Sorry to see a local TSX meet it's end. But the car can always be replaced.

Damn, I used to take that route to my shop and I've seen how some idiots drive over there. Those pics are brutal, m8, but I'm glad your family came out alright. What did the kid with the ricer headlights have to say to you after he destroyed your car and (most likely) scared the crap out of your family? I just hope he was apologetic...

~Cheers~

Wow, by the looks of the car, I am surprised you or your family were not injured seriously. On a side note, the car will be totally, it will cost waaaaaay too much to bring it back to normal. Good luck with your next car...hopefully it will be just as nice

Oh, that is a HORRIBLE on-ramp/area since the right lanes get backed up quickly and everyone else is going at least 65.

I'm glad you and your family are okay!

Wow, so glad it was only minor injuries to your family. Looks like some of the air bags did their work. I know that area of freeway, too, I used to HATE driving those freeways to and from Coast Guard Island (Alameda). Some idiots drive like they WANT to wreck someone's car. Every time I drove around Oakland Airport, I was reminded of my decision to live in Marin.

Are those the primo alloy wheels? If you want to sell/ebay them, pm me. I really don't like the 2006's stock wheels. They ... look ... like the last thing undamaged. Oh, and someone may want to buy your cabin air filter. (jk)

All I can say is wow. The tsx did an excellent job protecting your family, I'm glad everyone's okay. The car looks definately totaled, but you guys are lucky though. I don't like going on 101, too many merges and congestion. I try to avoid it if I can by taking 280 or local route.

Thank God everyone is ok. Looks like there could have been some serious injuries, but the TSX did its most important job well. Keeping the family safe is always #1 priority. Happy hunting on your search for a new ride. Hopefully you are able to get something just as nice or even better.

Yes that is him. You can tell by his damages that he hit the red cement mixer and that flew onto my car.

He came over to make sure everybody wasn't injured. If that cement mixer didn't come off that truck's tow hitch it wouldn't of hit my car.

I always fear this part of the highway especially on the weekends. Sometimes I would take 680S just to get onto 101N. I was debating which way to go as I was driving out of the house. Unfortunately I chose to take 101. I can't dwell on it as I can't predict what might happen. That's why everybody has to have insurance. I'm just glad my family weren't seriously injured.

My car is nearly back to stock. I spent the whole day removing all my mods. Even the 3 day old Cusco FSB came off. The only thing i couldn't remove yet was the Hondata reflashed ecu and the Ingalls camber kit. If the insurance company doesn't total the car and fixes it. I won't be re-installing the mods onto the car. So look for a part out thread (totaled or not) as I get more info on the claim.

When its time to look for a new car, I'll probably upgrade to the TL or get something cheap.

I want to make a lot of negative assumption about the driver that caused the accident from looking at his Accord but I'll refrain myself.

Glad your family is okay and all and I'm surprised in a good way that no one has any serious injuries from the damage but damn... that must be a hell of a shocker. Any car accident is a shocker...when cars hit, it makes one of the most excruciating sound known. Even if it's a soft rear end!

It seems that my mom and sister are starting to feel the effects of the impact. They are experiencing occasional neck pains and frequent headaches. The glass and impact were very close to them, so I wouldn't want to imagine what would happen if there wasn't any window tint.

Everything hurts the next morning.

I hope all their symptoms are relieved ASAP! So tint can save you from glass? I didn't know!

neck/back muscle spasms. have them go get checked out, along with yourself for that matter. Also, get an x-ray of your neck and back. I didn't know this at the time, but when I had my accident, it affected the curvature of my neck. Now it's too straight and I have to see a chiropractor regularly to get it re-aligned.

He put the sticker there because of license plate frames...

Tint is a film applied on the inside...thus, when something impacts the window and it shatters, the film holds most of it in place. Kinda like when someone broke into my accord...the whole shattered window just falls onto the seat (theft is probably the only reason why one wouldn't want to tint the car...if they break in, they'll have to crawl over the broken glass and cut themselves =P).

Just look at the rear windshield picture and see how the tint held it in place....if it wasn't there, the rear windshield would probably be all inside the car

I'm glad you and your family are ok man, that doesn't look good at all but DEF get your mom and sister checked out so that you have record with a doctor that they were seen!! The way insurance companies work and other people, you always want to be on the safe side. My friends mom was in an accident and thought she was ok and didn't see a doctor and then later found out her disc was shifted and had to go to therapy for over a year on her own money whereas if she would have seen a doctor, the insurance company of the person who hit her would be paying for her treatment. Better say than sorry!

again, i'm glad you and your family are ok!!

Let your insurance agent (or his insurance agent if you are dealing through them) know immediately. My cousin was an agent before and she told me to always go on the ambulance if you are involved in an accident that is not your fault. The last thing you want is to have to pay out of pocket for injuries caused by someone else!
