I thought the RTR TSX's ran only Enkei's? Did they just start using SSR Comps this race? I believe they're lighter by 2 lbs than the Enkei's.

Good eye, I didn't catch that.

They might just use them for their rain tires because the rack of wheels I saw in the realtime paddock were all Enkei.

You'll need to go across the pond for that.

They're running 235/40/17? While I'm sure that would give them the least rotational mass due to reduced diameter, it probably would look incredibly small on street TSX's.

Those tires are mandated by the SCCA:

http://www.world-challenge.com/series.php?page=carfacts
Touring Car (TC): The tires used are the Toyo Proxes RA-1 race compound DOT-approved tire. The size used is the same for all TC cars, it is the 235/40/17.

Is this proof that the TSX chassis is a better balanced platform than it's RSX sibling?
5/17/2003 Mosport (5) Pierre Kleinubing Touring Car Acura RSX
5/25/2003 Lime Rock Park (7) Pierre Kleinubing Touring Car Acura RSX
10/17/2003 Road Atlanta (5) Pierre Kleinubing Touring Car Acura RSX
6/26/2004 Mid-Ohio (2) Matt Plumb Touring Car Acura TSX
7/24/2004 Portland (1) Pierre Kleinubing Touring Car Acura TSX
8/8/2004 Mosport (6) Matt Plumb Touring Car Acura TSX
9/24/2004 Road Atlanta (6) Pierre Kleinubing Touring Car Acura TSX
3/18/2005 Sebring (4) Peter Cunningham Touring Car Acura TSX
4/16/2005 Road Atlanta (7) Pierre Kleinubing Touring Car Acura TSX
5/22/2005 Mid-Ohio (3) Pierre Kleinubing Touring Car Acura TSX
6/25/2005 Cleveland (1) Pierre Kleinubing Touring Car Acura TSX
8/10/2005 Denver (1) Eric Curran Touring Car Acura RSX
8/13/2006 Denver (2) Brandon Davis Acura TSX
6/24/2006 Infineon (4) Pierre Kleinubing Touring Car Acura TSX
7/15/2006 Miller Motorsports Park (1) Pierre Kleinubing Touring Car Acura TSX
With both of them meeting the 2,550-lb minimum weight requirement, it would seem that it would come down to the more-balanced out of the two.

Or has the TSX drivers been better?

When I talked to Peter Cunningham, he said the TSX is far better in the corners and under breaking than the RSX. When you're looking at lap times, don't forget to account for rewards weight. Pierre is carying 80 pounds more than Eric's RSX right now and he's still turning faster laps.
