Photo Request: W I D E Stance

So has anyone seen a TSX with a "wide" stance? I don't mean the extremes of wide-body kits, but simply wheels with large enough offsets and/or wheel spacers to make the wheels flush with the fenders, and then low (but not tucked). I'm think Audi-style here, not gangster-low.

Example:

Anyone?

Not with the wide body flares they offer standard with S4s, the closest would be the TSX concept A-spec car, since it had additional wide flares. I have never seen a true wide body type TSX other than the concept one mentioned. Otherwise I am thinking it would be like the pics posted above done with offsets but no flaring on the body work.

l7h8626's car is what I'm talking about. Nice!

I agree that without the fender flares it is hard to get that wide-look, but I imagine that if you put l7h8626's car next to a stock TSX it would have a dramatically different stance.

marinetsx's is nice, but has heavy body modifications involved, which I won't be doing.

I was gonna say that widebody TSX mentioned after, but I figured what for since the OP said "no wide body kits"

this is HaPPy jU1cE's car incase you didnt go search for it:

and yes both the Work wheels and the iForged wheels are for sale by each member respectively...

Shouldn't be that hard. A set of 8-inch wide wheels with a +45 offset allows you to run a 235 tire and should put the wheels out far enough that they are flush with the fender in front. Theoretically, you could run a staggered setup and go with an 8.5-inch wide wheel with a +48 offset to to get an even wider look, though those may have clearance issues.

HaPPy jU1cE's car is nice, but a bit too low for my taste.

How come no one uses wheel spacers? I think I'd rather keep my wheels the same size and just put some 10 or 20mm spacers on the rear wheels to make them as flush as the fronts. Anyone ever seen this on a TSX? I did it on my '03 Passat and it looked awesome. This allows you still be able to rotate your tires as well.

how about you get the same size wheels with the correct offset to make them flush cause it is a lot safer than using spacers.

I will have a great example of this in a little less than a month but until I have pictures to go along with the new wheel setup I wont be spilling the beans on my new wheels.

also you do know that audi is running stretched tires to pull that look off.

Wheel spacers put additional strain on the suspension parts and the wheel studs so they are generally not recommended. It is safer to get a properly offset wheel rather than trying to go with spacers.

Thanks... 2003 GLS Passat 1.8T 5MT + $7K in mods gets you there.

I sold the car, though, becuase the black color just drove me NUTS. It looked like it does in the pictures for about 15 minutes, and then it was a nice shade of dark grey the rest of the time. The passat also just didn't have a sporty transmission and felt like it just wanted to glide along instead of being athletic (a la TSX).

I did love it, though, and kept it in the family. My brother drives it now.

to do this you need 9" or wider wheels....8" is not wide enough to scretch anything

Yup!! I did alot of reading, hahaha. Widest we can go is 8 with 38 offset in the front, and 8.5 with +45 in the rear. BUt depending on the design of the rims, some rims yield more lip than others. That's the hardest part and has bother me for the longest time. I know if I wanted lip, this wasn't the best car to get, but I didn't know squat when I was young, so....I am stuck with this for now.

first off I call bullshit on this on any size bellow 19". you can stetch on 8" wide wheel easily. just run a 195/40/18 or a 205/35/18. hopefully in the next year some tire place will make a 205/35/19 and then you can stretch on a 19 inch 8" wide wheel also.

can't say I'm a fan of deep dish rims (especially not on hondas)

an agressive stance.. why not -but gotta keep those wheels within the guards or it'll look ghetto

Thanks for all the pointers, guys.

I'm not really looking to have deep-dish wheels, just wheels that line up well with the outside fender of the car.

its called stretch tire and its not all about show but a way to put wider wheels with a higher offset and not need to go wide body so that you dont rub.

I know happy juices rims are not flush. I didnt buy them cause they are flush and have a standard looking honda acura lip size.

Somehow, I knew this thread would contain a VW or Audi. TSX's weren't made to be wide cars, IMO. They have a more upright look to them and if you want to go wide, I would suggest a widebody kit like mentioned earlier in this thread. VW's' and Audi's are wider standing cars than the TSX, thus, they can rock the wider wheels. I just don't know if it would look good on a TSX. I could be surprised though.

you can rock wide wheels on the tsx with no problem. I may even do 10in wide in the rear next year with little modification to the body at all as I dont really want to do that. you can get shorter axels or have your hubs milled down about 10-15mm. there are many ways to go wider on a honda.

But will it look good? Colt, spend the money, make it happen and I'll critique. Kidding of course. I don't know, the TSX is just too "upright" for me to think wide tires would work.

That black TSX screams photochop... but the front wheel fitment is nice... rears have too much negative camber for my taste.

if that is to much negative camber then you better be ready to pull your fenders cause your not going to get a wide stance on a honda without negative camber, stretched tires, or pulled fenders. you are going to have to do one of those to get the wide euro style stance you are looking for.
