To be more specific, I copied the main image, pasted in a new layer, gauisian blur that new layer like 20%, then used the history tool to take the blur out of the focal point (the car)
I did a 20% transparent gradiant layer over the top (blue to clear to black) again to justify the focal point and build the illusion that I used a lens hood.
I also made another copy of the background layer and played with the curves and made it very transparent, and again used the history brush to take out the "sharp" colors that were too contrasting and fake looking but still left the cool accents in the black and the chrome areas. This was just an experiment that ended up looking decent so I saved it and decided to post it, so please don't take it for an attempt at a professional shot.

Fake blur
Probably would have looked better just leaving it as it was originally.

Yeah, I washed my car at lunch, went to leave work and walked up to my car and thought, DAMN, this would make a good photo! The only thing that would have made it better if I had happened to be down by lake Michigan at dawn parked on the cliffs. Maybe that shot will have to be "set-up" some day.
RE: not looking very realistic.. I did it in 5 min. I wasn't going for a Product Brochure cover-shot here. ;-)
