New Rotors

Installed my new R1 Concepts rotors today. I want to thank Sean for all the help. Some great people in this forum. All the work was done at the Auto Hobby Shop at Naval Air Station Jacksonville. They have an awesome facilitiy.

Up on the lift:

Old front rotor:

New front rotor:

Thanks Sean!

All done:

Front rotor with wheel:

Ready to roll!

We also replaced the brake pads with semi-metallic pads. Brakes grabbed a little at first but otherwise feel and brake great!

Agreed. They do look a bit rough and ready.
Still, hope they work as well as expected.

Thanks. They do look better in person and so far are performing great! As far as a FREE shop, there is acually a cost. But for $3.00 an hour, you can't beat it. That's not only is for the lift, but they have tools, clean up supplies, coveralls, even hand cleaner. Also there a Master Mechanic for tips and advice.

Nice upgrade. So what percentage would you say the new brakes are better than the OEM?

Yep, I'll be there! Gonna return the favor. Sean was a great help and I learned a lot. Anyway, how else would he get on base???

I'm still breaking them in, been only one day. Right at first they grabbed a little but after a few HARD breaks, it smoothed out. They do feel like they stop better than OEM. As far as a percentage, hard to say. One thing about the OEM's, I was amazed on how much brake pad I still had on both front and back after 51k miles and how much rust on the old rotors was hidden under the rims.

Don't know if were going to do EDFC, I have to get a hold of my buddy to see if he'll be up to coming to run the wires for it

I was thinking we could do everything else and then do the EDFC at my house or something in the next couple of weeks

No problem Sean. I was pretty busy doing Honey Do's myself.
Saturday should be fun and another learning experience.

Great! Do you want me to bring the Helm's Manual again? I also sent Rod a PM to see if he wants to go too.

Thanks. Yea, the Hobby Shop has 6 lifts, 6 work stalls, tool shop, disposal area for oil, etc. tire machine, transmission machine, and paint room. I can go on and on. All for $3.00 an hour. A few of us will be there Saturday installing some coilovers in another members car. Another great military benefit.

wasn't really tired so i checked my mail and the posts. i did misread the e-mail though, the part will ship out today so odds are I won't have it by saturday. I am also pondering whether to install the RSB because I wanted to get the Energy Suspension Poly Bushings and I cannot find them in stock ANYWHERE in town
