New interior lights: LEDs w/ lots of pics!

I did an interior light swap, and took way too many pictures, so I'm forcing you to look at them. hah! I picked up a few different types of LEDs, all from www.autolumination.com. Here are some pics of the results.

Interior Dome:

Super High Flux 6-LED festoons in white, as discussed in this thread. 10x31mm. Stock size is x30mm. so yes, you'll have to force these in there just a bit, but its worth it. The metal will forgive you 1mm.

I'm sure you know, but you need 3 of these for the interior, 1 for each map light up front, left and right, and 1 for the rear center dome light.

Stock pic from autolumination:

Notice how you have to angle it a bit to fit. This is OK, as it angles toward the driver and passenger, appropriatly for each side.

On, and in the socket, no lense:

Side-by-Side comparison with stock:

And, both of them:

The rear looks just as nice. I didn't bother to post a pic here because they all came out bad, but you get the idea.

Finally, , these are BRIGHTER than stock. I'm very happy with the results. They do not have the 'slightly on' problem some do, and they fade out as they should after everyone leaves the car and shuts the doors.

Door Step Lights:

I tried 2 types here:

'Matrix' 5-LED in blue, and 'Wide Angle Superstar w/ Heatsink' in white.

'Matrix bulb: 1 LED facing forward, 4 around the perimeter.

Stock pic from autolumination:

I couldn't get a good pic of this, so I kinda cheated with the backlight of the PC.

Here it is installed. It throws a low, but acceptable, amount of light. Just a little bit less than stock perhaps.

'Wide Angle Superstar w/ Heatsink': 1 LED, very bright, facing forward. I bought these to use as license plate lights, and still will, but I wanted to test them out in the doors first to see the light difference. They are significantly brighter than the above 'Matrix' style lights, even with only 1 LED, and throw an impressively wide beam of light. They also fit just as well as the matrix lights.

Stock pic from autolumination:

My image:

Installed. Wow. I think I'll be ordering 2 of these in blue to replace the Matrix ones with.

I hope the cleanliness of the lights isn't too . New exterior lights coming very, very soon. (I hope.)

I also have the white 9 LED's from tec-toyz and am happy with them. But for some reason your's looks a tad bit brighter. You should try posting pictures from a standstill outside the car.. Nice write up.

I was inspired to get these by tuoncan, who started the thread that I linked to. I've seen the 9-LED kit in person (never had it, but seen it) and these are substantially brighter.

I agree it's brighter than the 9-led kit, cause I'm using it. I didn't order mine there, cause mine is custom made by another professional. By the design is the same, except I used 6led on my side door footwell too. The only non-led part in my car is the rear dome light, cause it won't fit the 6led circuit board.

The new super bright LED have "chips" in them and are brighter than stock and the non chipped ones. They also do not flicker and burn out. IF your LED's do not have the chip in them, you do not have the best light.

Not sure what you mean by chips. The festoon 6-LEDs like I got are PCB mounted, but there's nothing fancy going on, no microcontrollers or circuitry, just single layer board with power.

Eur, look up the names I gave to them, you can get all these on autolumination.com

Great work!

Well I guess this saves me time and money doing my own research. I really like the way the lights look and the long life and (mechanical) shock resistance that LEDs have. Thanks for the post!

That ebay item is a 4 led item.
I got confused because the picture you can see
6 but in the item description it says 4.

They look good man but i need 2 LED's for my sidelamps (right next to the HID's) cuz every time i keep buying them from superbirghtled.com, they work for a combined 24 hours and then i end up changing them, iv went through a few pairs of LED's already and im getting sick of it, so by any chance do they have any LED's for the side lamps

I had the same problem with superbrightleds' LEDs. I have not had any problems after I switched to Autolumination's LEDs. I don't know if they sell same LEDs or not, but so far none of my Autolumination's LEDs has failed.

Just installed the Super High Flux 6-LED festoons in white for my Map lights, and the Wide Angle Superstar w/ Heatsink': in my doors.... man does it look sweet, very very bright! I really like the look of all white, was thinking about getting the blue, but I'm very glad I went with the white, looks very nice and clean.

Yep, only down side is somehow I blew a the interior light fuse.... not sure if I did something wrong, but I replaced it with one of the extra 10a fuses in the engine fuse box compartment, and everything worked fine.

i guess that pretty much settles it, going with Super High Flux 6-LED from autolumination...

just to be sure though, the same leds for the map light can be used to replace the dome light also rite?

- acurasrule: any reason why you didn't replace your dome light also?

I like the white color, I just don't want anything super bright like these are described to be.

Thoughts?

Introducing the The Widest, Brightest and Best Forward Facing Festoon Leds Ever Made!
"Outfitted with the latest Super High-Flux Leds Designed especially for applications requiring a large uniform field of bright light 10mm wide x 31mm overall length "

i wonder if these are brighter or dimmer than the "6 LED Super High Flux"

I'm having trouble getting the rear dome in with these 6 LED super high flux... anybody have any suggestions? Is it supposed to be angled all, or should it be facing straight down.

It seems the led from end to end (metal part) is longer than can actaully fit in the slot?

i buy my led's from autolumination too (2 cars now) and the license light actually died. I couldn't believe that an LED bulb crapped out. I asked the guy for a replacement and he said the best he could is a give me a $1 discount. wack.

Hey Reach: Where else can the Wide Angle Superstar w/ Heatsink' in white be installed?

I've got them in the doors, and license plate now, but wondering if they will work in the cargo/trunk light spot, and also in the front and rear sidemarkers and in the Parking light?

I was wondering the same thing, but I think the "6 LED Super High Flux" is brighter. Just comparing the stock pics:

Here is the 6 LED Super High Flux:

Now compare it to the "Super Star":

Just from the pics, it looks like the 6LED gives off a wider spectrum of light, but then again, the 194 Superstar Bulbs With Metal Heat Sink Wide Angle are 1 LED and look very bright in my doors:

That's one thing I'm worried about if I did put in the Wide Angle Superstar w/ Heatsink': 1 LED in the license plate area . . . or if I used any of these LEDs really . . . kinda a n00b on how LEDs hold up over time . . .

I'm new to this forum, and I was wondering if any of you could be kind enough to help me. I was inspired by this interior LED convertion, so I ordered my own set from autolumination! I just got the LEDs today and tried to install them but I ran into a few problems.

1)When I finally managed to angle the LED's to fit into the maplight, it wouldn't light! at first I thought the LED was dead. So I took it back out and swapped it back with stock. But later I found out the same LED worked on my dome light. It seems its difficult to make these connect properly, it would turn on for a second but when I turn it a little it goes off again. Any tips on making the light stay on?

2)I finally popped out the door light plastic cover and tried to remove the stock light... I tried to pull as much as I could scared that I'd break the bulb. HOW DO YOU GUYS GET THIS DOOR BULB THING OUT!?

3) Yea I know... the dome light is a pain in the butt to fit in, I still haven't gotten it in yet.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

1. I beleive that the map the lights have to be gaving a certain direction. So if you have it in correctly, and it's not lighting, pull it out and flip it, and try again. If it is coming on and going off, it's not all the way in, try making sure it is correctly in.

2. These were the easiest I thought. Just pop the cover, and maybe try giving it a slight turn as you pull it out, these should come right out, and the new ones pop right in.... again, I think they have to be inserted in the right way, so if it doesn't work, flip it and put it in again.

3. I couldn't get the 6LED to fit in the dome light.... I tried and tried, I ended up getting a different super high flux 1LED< not as bright, but ok for the back since the front is so bright.

BTW, don't take out more than one light at a time. i.e don't take out the door bulbs and the map lights at the same time... Do one at a time. Doing so can blow a fuse, which I learned the hard way.
