My new little mod! (pix)

What the heck,

I just changed my license plate bulbs to red ones. Something I was thinking from LONG time ago(even before TSX came out)! Took me 40 minutes.. Considering I never changed light bulbs in my life, lol I did okay I guess.

I can't wail til my license plate arrives now! hahaha

here are some pictures i want to share with you guys
btw, putting back was PAIN IN THE ASS but I found out that, that was the easiest part ever.... stupid me

nice , but probably illegal. i had slightly blue bulbs on my last car and they looked way better than standard whiles. it still looked legal even though it had a slight blue tint to it. think i might do a smoked one for my tsx to get a light grey tint to it.

You should get yanked right away, its pretty much the same as having a cover conceal your plate

I like it. I think the next mod should be the changing license plate that Roger Moore had in Canon Ball Run.

I think some of you worry too much. I always swap out my license plate bulb for the hyper white bulbs. I think as long as you are not looking for trouble, the last thing a cop is gonna do is pull you over for a colored bulb.
Mine actually shines brighter (appears to anyways) than the factory bulb. I personally think it looks good. Nice work n3ok318

I've had no plate in front for over 19 months, been stopped 3 times for miscellaneous reasons, never got a ticket.

Well, that's not really a biggy....I mean...the cop is gonna be behind you when he runs your plates...not infront or passing you in oncoming traffic...so you could keep getting away without having it on

As for the colored Licensce Plate lights....looks very nice indeed...but will almost certainly get you into a little bit of trouble.....

And hyper-white/blue-white put out a totally different visibility then red lights...

For those who say that the red bulbs will "get you in trouble", "certainly get a ticket", etc., do you have proof that someone actually had gotten a ticket for it? This is such a minor thing as compared to things like an exhaust. How come I don't see people telling others that an exhaust will "get you in trouble" or "certainly get a ticket"? Instead, many would say "nice exhaust", "how does it sound", etc. IMO, an exhaust will attract the cops' attention even more than the little red bulbs in the freaking licence plate area.

I dunno about Kirkland, WA but here in Toronto, Canada pigs like to pull you over for anything. Even blue/pink/smoked license plate covers could cause you a ticket.

I think the only restriction is how much it affects the readibility of the plate, so it may all come down to the subjectivity of the cop that stops you...

It just depends on the cop if he wants to be a dick or not. If the cop pulls you over for speeding or whatever and sees you have a modded car, he can inspect it and write you a ticket for everything that might be out of code.

WA license plate illumination requirements:

RCW 46.37.050
"(3) Either a tail lamp or a separate lamp shall be so constructed and placed as to illuminate with a white light the rear registration plate and render it clearly legible from a distance of fifty feet to the rear. Any tail lamp or tail lamps, together with any separate lamp or lamps for illuminating the rear registration plate, shall be so wired as to be lighted whenever the head lamps or auxiliary driving lamps are lighted."

A red license plate lamp sticks out like a sore thumb to a cop on the freeway and can be seen from 100 yards away. Given your age, you are just asking for a nice fat ticket.

I think that might be more the case in places like CA where everyone is modding their car and cops do nothing but look to mess with them. Just depends on the cop and what mood they are in that day. People do all kinds of mods to their cars without looking up regs/ laws. What's the big deal. Ride with it and if you get stopped for it, fix it before court, and all is good.

What's a 1 yr defer? Some tickets can be wiped out by fixing it either on the spot or prior to your court date.

not sure if the spelling is correct.. but "defer" is something for 1st offenders to get out of ticket trouble-free. If you do not get another ticket for a year, the ticket disappears and insurance wont know. But it can only be used every seven years.

i don't know about you
but if i'm a cop, i'd pull you over

it's an identification of your vehicle, and you are trying to deter ppl from identifying you

Yeah, Cops here love the Euro Plate/ no front plate cover...usually talk my way out of it, since i do have the front plate in the windsheild...last time thought cop was a dick, 3 am and he just wanted to fill his quota...
I dont like to use it on cops, but if i wasnt a Fireman I would of been walking out of this one w/ several tickets heres a basic idea of our conversation

Him: u know how fast u were going?
Me: I dunno, 40, 45...
him: 45, you know the speed limit
me: thought it was 45, guess not then
Him: no its 40, *looks at regestration* is this a honda or an acura
Me: um its kinda both, cars an acura but I have the Honda badges from over seas on it
Him: is that why you have that fucking european plate on the back under ur plate
Me: yes sir
him: It looks fucking rediculious
Me: Im sorry u feel that way, but it is legal...
Him: *taps on windsheild w/ butt of maglite* whys this plate here
me: oh it broke recently, the front mount, im waiting for a new one, put it there to be at least somewhat legal....
Him: *walks over and inspects front of car* whats this scratch
Me: some guy backed into me and ran a while ago
Him: i see, well u were still speeding
Me: Officer, im a good kid, Vollie Firefighter *Falshes my badge once again* Im on my way to pick up my friend from the trainstation, and then im going home and to sleep, I didnt mean to be speeding, I was mistaken,
Him: *looks at the badge again* put your fucking sheild back on your jacket *returns Licence/Reg and walks away*

Real nice guy right?
