moda_way's wife's new vehicle
We just added a 2009 Pilot Touring edition to the family to replace the wife's 2001 Civic EX. Dark Cherry Pearl with Black interior, Navi and DVD Res. Plan on adding the black tubular side steps in a few months b/c the dealer wanted to rape me on them.
(NOTE: Yes I know the TSX is very dirty and needs some TLC. Been damn busy.)
There will be one other "bundle" of joy to join the crowd as well, but for now, I will only leave the word Stoner as a hint.

nice.
are you going to post a review of it?
next car i get is probably gonna be a SUV/CUV of some sort. a friend of ours got the highlander, which looks really roomy and a bit more stylish from the outside vs. the pilot.

Hahaha... well, we aren't adding a kid... you'll have to wait and see after 9/20.
We did cross shop a lot of SUVs, but to be honest, the Pilot is sort of in its own class. Why? Well, we looked at the Highlander and though very nice, it had things going wrong for it. 1. The third row made the rear space disappear. You have a bit more in the back of the Pilot... not a lot granted, but a little more. 2. Good luck getting it fully loaded like the Pilot Touring for the price we paid. Toyota ain't dealin right now in my area at least. As for price, call it $4k under MSRP. I had it at $6k under MSRP when they had their Hot Summer Dealer Incentive going on, but we lost it to a sales guy who said if I did the credit application and put money down, we'd be fine. Well, he lied. However, I still came out on top because the APR right now is 2.9% and with the previous $2k dealer incentive that was at 3.9%. I come out on top at the end of 5 years. Anyway, my wife absolutely loves it. I have 1 complaint about it... with the 3rd row down, from the rear to the back of the middle row, the bottom slopes up... so you loose a bit of space at the front of the vehicle. However, given everything else you get in the Pilot... it is simply amazing. Think of it this way, all the technology and more of an MDX in a Pilot. Turning radius is AMAZING now, acceleration is basically the same and I'm a tad leary of the VCM (Variable Cylinder Management), but I have 5 years for that to prove itself out. Never thought I'd drive a vehicle that can be a 3, 4 or 6 cylinder, but it does it nearly impossible to feel...TRULY. The pilot is wider and it is noticeable, especially with car seats. Sound system is much improved, Navi is your traditional Honda goodness, and with a USB and Aux input in the center console AND being able to put rear sound and front sound independent now, it is wonderful. Used to not be able to have Navi and DVD Res or be able to split the rear vs front sound, now you can. One fault, you can't simply turn the front sound off, you can turn it way down, but not off. Also, you still have the IR headphones as an option. Our two boys are still too young to enjoy those (or should I say us enjoy them).
Over all, a good value unless you are willing to risk going GM, Dodge or Ford. You simply won't get the quality interior though, but you can get the same mpg.
