Milano Red TSX w/ 18x8 Work VS-SS rims

Here's some updated pics of my MR 05 TSX w/ 18x8 Work VS-SS +51 offset rims and 235-40-18 Yokohama ES100 tires.

It's lowered on Neuspeed Koni shocks + Comptech 110-155 springs. In these pictures, the spring perch is set at 1 notch below the middle at all 4 corners or 1/4" lower than what the typical Comptech 110-155 drop would look like.

No tire rubbing issues at all thus far.

I'm still debating on whether I should go with the Euro-R bodykit or the US OEM kit.

Here's a close up shot of the wheel well gap in the front:

And a shot of the wheel well gap in the rear:

Very nice looking ride man

I like those rims. I use to have some Work RS Betas on my old civic and those things were super light. I bet those are really light too

If you're planning on getting a bodykit. You should take those mudflaps off ASAP. Mine left light scratches after only 5000 miles.

People say aspec is like 10% stiffer, how much stiffer than stock would say that suspension setup is?

Very nice TSX!

I think it looks better without any body kit - but I agree, lose the mud flaps.

Like I said at the meet last week, I really like your wheels.

Nice car!

The EuroR kit will look good if you're getting the JDM foglights too. It'll look good too without the JDM foglight, but it would look like it's missing something. Just my

Thanks everyone for your kind words!

I'm getting tint as soon as I find the time to drop my car off.

Bodykit wise, I'm leaning towards US OEM kit due to availability and ease of installation (specifically the fog light issue).

But, if anyone knows of a local place in So Cal that can get me the Euro-R kit, I'd really consider going that route. I just don't want to deal w/ a Canadian or out of state vendor in the event that I get damaged parts, etc.

These guys are local in the San Gabriel Valley area. I know that they import many JDM engine parts, but I'm sure they can probably import JDM accessories too. Give them a call.

go with the euro kit, I like it better than the OEM one, plus EVERYONE seems to have the OEM kit.

Also, the jdm headlights would make you car soooo HOTTT!

WOW man BEAUTIFUL car!!!!! How much did those wheels run you? I was actually looking at a set of those, but now I guess I will have to change........and find something else! Definatly get two thumbs up from me! As far as a choice...the US OEM kit or the Euro kit would look great....

vwong - Thanks for the link. I'll give them a call.

mandercruso - I remember you had a thread about red TSXs w/ the Mugen kit. Do you happen to have any pictures of red Euro-Rs or red TSXs w/ the Euro-R kit?

Ackman - The ride quality is very good. IMO, it's too soft. Comptech 110-155s are probably the softest aftermarket springs available. Their rates are just slightly stiffer than stock. I went w/ this set up b/c I wanted to ensure that I had something with good ride quality. Now, I'm considering going to a stiffer set up like some Tein SS or Flex, but probably not for a while.

JT2k4TSX - Rims and tires cost about $3K. What other rims were you considering? I was thinking about the Volk Progressiv ME or Volk GT-V, but went w/ Work as they are less popular.

Thanks again everyone. Glad you guys (and girl) enjoyed the pictures.

Not yet. But, I have an appt at West End Alignment in Gardena on Thursday and I'll probably swing by Dr. Tint afterwards. The shop I found in the area you mentioned was "A-1 Tint Doctor". I'm assuming this is the correct shop.

Yeah that's it! They even have cheap red tint if you really wanted it. lol

But the Lumar and other tints are top quality especially their warranty...

People have indicated that stock spring rates are 5 kg/mm F and 3.1 kg/mm R which works out to 280 lb/in F and 173.6 lb/in rear.

At approx 315 lb/in F and 170 lb/in rear, the front Comptech 110-155 springs are a little over 10% stiffer in front and the same or very slightly softer in the rear.

Koni shocks have adjustable damping and are also very comfortable. At the softest setting, the car feels too wallowy when going over fwy dips and bumps. At 1 full turn, the wallowy feel is gone but the ride quality is still very good.

Here's a thread by tmalzahn w/ pictures of the tags on the springs showing the actual measured spring rate of Comptech 110-155 springs. See pictures 5-8:

Great post man. Thanks for the info

Can't decide between your setup, Tein SS, or the Eibach Prosystem.

FWIW, if I were to do it again, I'd probably go with Tein SS or Flex. Koni shocks + Comptech springs are pretty pricey at about $800. You can get a full coilover like the Tein SS for $900. The Tein Basics are less than $800. Tanabe Sustec Pro S-OC coilovers are another option in this same price range.

Eibach Pro-System might be pretty good. Unfortunately, we may never find out as they've been delayed over, and over, and over again for the past 5 mos. Who knows when they'll actually be available?

cmf's TSX is one of the cleanest, most tastefully modded here. Wish he was selling his car back in Dec 04 when I was buying mine.

Not sure about the weight. The rim/tire combo felt a little heavier than the stock set up though so I don't think these are light rims like the various Volks.
