Hey, those are some excellent mods on the AR - what stock are you using? I'd love to put that on mine.

Oh and to add to the controversy here's me with my AK

That is made by Magpul Industries and retails for $225. I bought one of the experimental prototypes about 8 months ago for $350, and it is an excellent stock. The install was easy, and you do not need a smith. I have an AK as well.

Stokeless_TSX 01-14-2004 07:30 AM

LOL. Reminds me of a certain South Park eppisode. That's a cool AK, is it Chinese or Russian?

Do you have a pre or post ban AR? I have one of each.

The last I heard from my AR gunsmith, the BATF had not made ruling on this stock. Remember, you cannot put a collapsible stock (M4 style) on a post ban receiver, well legally at least. I know a lot of people that do anyway.

The MagPul is termed adjustable rather than collapsible, thus getting around the federal assault weapon law on the “evil” things as they term it. However, if a ruling came out from the ATF saying it was illegal on a pre-ban, I would not want to toss out $225 on a stock that is in violation of federal law.

Hopefully, the 10-year ban will expire (and NOT be renewed) this year and this post/pre ban crap will all go down the toilet.

Max 01-14-2004 05:00 PM

It's a pre-ban AK, quite old actually. My AR is post ban, but I already own the standard M4 stock for it, and have never ran into any problems with it, although I don't put it on too often, especially on the range.
I hear you on the ban, though - if they don't renew it I won't have to go to Nevada to have some fun.

Which question, schally?

DNB's post is a satiric joke.
Mine was trash-talk to C91.
C91's laughter was over the whole thing.

Really? It did seem like there were a LOT of guns for member pics in general. If not, does the NRA put TSX ads in their mags? ;)

Know any good houses to buy there for cheap? I'll wait to see if GW gets re-elected (if he hasn't caused terrorists to be even more pissed and they kill me by then). If he doesn't I'll stay, but otherwise, I'll see you there! ;)

schalliol 01-28-2004 05:32 PM

What do you guys use the guns for? Anyone here "The Mall Ninja"?

larchmont 01-28-2004 05:34 PM

Probably the same as what people use their BMW's for. :D

gsclifton 01-28-2004 05:46 PM

I guess I started it then . . . but that was the only pic I had hosted at the time for the members pics thread.

Sorry for instigating the gun posting as that was not my intention. :dunno:

As for guns I own:
Texas CHL holder
AR-15 (5.56m)
AK-47 (7.62m)
S&W Model 10 (38)
Remington 870 Police (12G)
Glock 20 (10m)
Glock 30 (45)
Glock 36 (45)
Hi-Point Rifle (9m)
Volquartsen (22LR)
Henry Golden Boy (22M)
Crossman Air Rifle :boink:

Next:
Glock 21
S&W Performance Center

It would take A LOT of pics to post them all.

Texas does it the right way, we execute the guilty.:D

ruger 9mm

They're voting on whether or not to pass the ccw soon here in Wisconsin. The governor vetoed it but the senate overrode the veto. It's now up to the assembly. However it's not looking so good, if it's overridden it'll be veeerrryyy close.

Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) or the same thing as a Concealed Handgun License (CHL). Wisconsin basically modified the basic Texas CHL legislation.

I bought a P89 (9m) on my 21st birthday. I wish I had kept that gun. They are fairly accurate out of the box.

schalliol 01-28-2004 07:35 PM

so that means you'll be able to carry concealed weapons?

There's limits on where but yes.

If they pass the law, then Wisconsin will become a state (along with about 20 others) that will license residents who meet the qualifications and go through all of the hoops to acquire the license. It is actually a PITA to get the license IMO.

In Texas you pay a nice fee ($140), provide (2) sets of your fingerprints (about $20 from a Police Station), provide (2) Passport photos (about $10), and get a couple of documents notarized (usually free). Then you have to take 8 hours of class-room instruction ($80-200), a written test, and a live fire test on the range.

The written test focuses on when you can/cannot use deadly force with your firearm, where you can carry it, and what to do if you are stopped while carrying the gun in your vehicle. The class was actually interesting and made me realize that I would be hesitant to actually use the weapon in most situations. Anyway you slice it, if you use deadly force you are going to pay out $40k+++ in legal fees EVEN if you are within your rights under the law especially with the wrongful death suits that might follow the event. They also teach you gun safety and what to do when you are stopped by an officer with the gun.

The live fire test was pretty easy as well as long as you can handle a firearm. The accuracy test was not that difficult. My wife passed shooting the G36 easily. If you pass both tests, the instructor will issue you a certificate for your CHL application. Most anyone could pass as long as they had fired the weapon before the testing date. The test uses timers like a competition and you have to be familiar with that aspect.

Then you submit all of this documentation to the State and wait for 10-12 weeks for them to research your background and issue or deny the license. If something comes up and the deny you, the State keeps all of the fee money and you lose the time/money you invested in the process. Some classes will take care of all of the paperwork for you but at a higher cost. I did all of the paperwork on my own and saved about $100 on the total thing. Also, my license was issued about 11 weeks after submission, so they do not get in a hurry.

I really only got the license so that I could legally carry one in the car. I am not interested in a felony for those who transport without a license. It is not worth having that on your record if you get caught. Felonies follow you forever.

Soze75 01-28-2004 07:50 PM

All my guns were stolen because I leave my doors unlocked.:P

Corbon91 01-28-2004 08:45 PM

Ok here's my list:

Ruger MKII (.22 LR)
Glock 17 (9mm)
Sig Sauer P220 (.45 ACP)
Heckler & Koch USP (.45 ACP)
Bushmaster XM-15 Shorty (.223)
Glock 21/Surefire Tactical Light (.45 ACP)
Mossberg 590A1 w/Vang Comp modified barrel (12 GA)
Remington 1100 (12 GA)

I wish I could get a CCW, but here in the PRK (People's Republic of Kalifornia for you newbies), it's damned near impossible. :'(
