Badass my man!

Wow! I just priced that out, that's $125 worth of iPod mount! Maybe mine can just live in the storage compartment afterall. Still, big points for the super clean setup.

shoot sounds good. I have a BIG grass field in the front of my neighborhood. it's kind of like a fairway on a golf course. very short cut.

Not to jack your thread here's a pic of mine - cost an entire $5 from the hardware store. Just need to grab some heat shrink and make it look a bit nicer.

nice install, but you unfortunately lose the ability to close that compartment.

actually that's why its velcro'd on. i cut 2 slits on the back of the case so that it slides onto the metal bracket. that way when i need to, it slides off, i throw the ipod in the compartment and take the the velcro'd bracket off and close the compartment.

looking at the picture, it looks like the bracket is bolted into the actual compartment, but the bolts were holding the metal plates + velcro together. i ran into a problem where a single piece of metal that long was very thick, and i was afraid the velcro wouldn't hold it up as well. so i got 2 shorter ones, and bolted them together.

oh, nice!

i also have the USA_SPEC in my car, and keep my ipod in that compartment. what i'm MOST interested in finding would be a small display that shows only artist & song title of whatever's playing on the ipod, that i'd be able to mount somewhere higher up on the dash. that way, when i'm on random, i can tell what's playing (if i don't recognize the song) without opening the compartment.

another thread hijack, sorry, but anyone know of such a display compatible with USA_SPEC?

Very neat install, but pricey and shouts "I've an iPod".
I prefer the 'out of sight, out of mind' approach personally.

Welcome to the club

I've had mine in my whip now for a few months, and it's the "cleanest" setup IMO. The only difference is that I dremeled the KUDA so that my DICE cradle is flush to the surface (I don't like any wires showing at all), and I shaved the DICE logo off (I don't like any branding that isn't "OEM" at all).

Creative you guys but I think this is the best way and cleanest way to integrate it. The pocket opens and closes with the ipod in there and since them I bought a Video Ipod and I can watch videos off it with the navi input I installed. Its niceeeeeeee. Let me know what you guys think.

That's nice and all but that's where my Parrot CK3100 Bluetooth screen is at.

it's nice, but i don't know how "the pocket opens and closes with the ipod in there." the dock can stay in there, while the pocket closes, yes?

i'm looking for a way to do something similar to what you've done, only dremel out the bottom of the "not an ashtray" so that when it's in there, only the screen is showing. but it'd have to be able to be pulled out to get to controls and take the ipod out if i wish

The Top Pocket opens and closes fine with the Ipod in but the bottom one wont unless you take out the dock. You can dremel out a hole big enough to make the dock fit under it but you must find a way to fix the dock to the bottom and still have the not an ashtray and cig lighter piece screw back in. The whole piece comes out so you can bring it to a bench but make sure you measure the clearance under the piece once screwed back in. Sounds cool if it mounts flush. I did not want to drill holes because I like the clean look plus it is not perminant. You should see my Xbox360 install in the rear section where the cup holder folds down. I cant find the original post for it so I might make another.

i would like a similar set up where there is a dremeled out section with a built-in dock. But they key like you said is to be able to have a setup that you can pull out and still get at the controls.

Looks good. My only dislike is the fact that it was designed to mount closer to the passenger side.
