Hoen install + writeup

My first sucessfull install aside from the lip spoiler!
Took me about 2 hours ( I know, if I were to do it again, probably 25 minutes),

The process was fairly simple.

tools needed : long extended philips screwdriver. A shorter philips as well, thats all you really need.

To get the washer from the side, use the extended philips and basically get as close to the car as possible by the liscene plate. There is a hole, and if you look close enough, you can see the black small screw. use the philips and unscrew it, you can reach around the bottom grill and catch it.

2nd, you can jack your car if you want, you dont need to, get underneath the car. There are 2 square openings in the black plastic on the bottom of the car which im sure many of you are familar with.

One of the "square openings" is directly underneath the 2nd washer, just use the smaller philips and unscrew this one.

after, the housing should pop out easily.

The fog light harness is attached to the bulk, theres a little saftey clip you push down, and the harness pops off. Removing the bulb, u just turn it and pullout.

Getting the screws back in were a pain. I used scotch tape to tape the black screw to the driver and got the side one's in no problem, but lost both bottom fasnters, but everything seems secure, ill have to get extra ones.

I have the hoen bulbs.

are those "true" HID fog bulbs?
I don't think that HID fog bulbs can be put onto TSX without some conversions and wire modifications!?

btw, it looks good tho^^

these are not true HID bulbs.....

These bulbs are actually really popular with the Audi following. Also they make a good yellow bulb from what I hear.

Here is there site. Hoen-usa

There not true HID's, there just made to match the regular lights. I like the way they match, as you can see its way better than the stock lights.

hoen-usa.com someone mentioned, that is where i purchased mine i believe.

thanks for the replies.

I bought a set of Hoen bulbs at the same time when I snagged an OEM fog kit. So I installed the bulbs during the fog install. They have worked great for over a year now. However, I do have a cracked light housing now from a rock impact.

Are these bulbs reliable? Rmatic did you get the Titaium series bulbs? I dont want to buy some bulbs that will burn out all the time because when I drive at night my foglights are on regardless of the conditions...

Ive heard there reliable. Ill just have to wait and see, but i dont use my fog lights that often, so its going to be hard to say. And no, i did not purchase the "titatinum" series.

Hey, i said if i were to do it again, it woulda been 25 minutes. It was 30 degrees and i had no light, plus the insturctions were very deceiving. ANd it was an hour and a half.

hahaha!! these fog bulbs can't beat mine!! Mine aren't technically called "fog lights"...there more called "Auxillary Low Beams" lights.... but they are running D1S bulbs and comes in their own nice housing and ballasts.

So to recap...these are TRUE HID Auxiliary Housing with D1S 5400K bulbs... here are some pics:

Fog light HID by itself:

Fog light HID + Stock HID low beams (no high beams)

HID Fog lights by itself!! :

HID Fog lights + Stock HID low beam:

as you can see in the last pics, there is a cutoff generated from the stock HID TSX headlamps.... so these auxillary hid lights are positioned a bit below the stock HID cutoff line.... which is perfect...

i did also remove my glare shield to get more light intensity..but of course, as I mentioned, i won't blind people because these are positioned below the stock cutoff line...

We also only paid $47 for our bulbs and use the OEM fog lights. Granted, yours are true HIDs, but it is all in what you like.
