Ex = TSX / Current = Mercedes C350!

I sold my CGP 2006 Acura TSX w/Navi two weeks ago and just got my replacement: a Mars Red 2008 Mercedes-Benz C350! The car is simply amazing! Don't get me wrong, I LOVED my TSX, but the C350 is an all-around upgrade and I am sure ecstatic about the move! In anticipation of some questions, here are some quick answers...

- Sold the TSX for $25K with 11K miles. I did a wash-thru with my dealer and also received a substantial tax savings. The car was in brand-new condition as well! The C cost $44K+++.

- Comparing the TSX to the C350, they are 2 completely different cars even if they are in almost the same category. To sum it up, the TSX does everything well and is an all-around, $ for $ excellent buy! However, the C350 is a much more aggressive car in every aspect and is certainly more entertaining to own and drive. Not to mention, the C demands attention while the TSX has the ability to grab it.

- Why the C350 over the TL-S if I was looking for an upgrade? Well, for a few thousands more, I got a brand-new design that is oozing with technology and not to mention the German autobahn DNA. Also, it is, at the end of the day, a Benz!

Here are a few pics of the TSX and the C350. Enjoy!

i like the aggressive lines of the c350. why do you have an amg badge if you don't have the 451hp c63 amg monster?

I have been asked this so many times. This is the reasoning for it:

1. Symmetry: The AMG badge allows the trunk to look more symmetrical, IMO. I love it!
2. AMG Trademark: It appears on the 18" rims and the lower body-kit is also part of the AMG collection, to name a few items.

While it may be a bit unorthodox, at the very basic level, I just love the way that the badge looks. Besides, there is enough AMG parts / inspiration throughout the car to warrant it, IMO.

Well I had my share of those with the TSX ... my navi had to be pulled down and reinstalled by the dealer and my sunroof fell off track and had to be replaced ... both before 4K miles. Hopefully, the Benz will be relatively gremlin free even if it first year of production. No car / company is perfect...

Really nice car, congrats

I am a huge fan of the new MB redesign. How does it drive?

$44k is steep for an entry level sedan though ...maybe some day.

Sorry, but I'm not a fan of the AMG badge. It looks like you're trying to show off a car you don't have. What really defines an AMG is the hand-built motor under the hood, not the wheels or body kit.

If you want symmetry, why not just debadge the C350 rather than add an emblem that doesn't really belong there in the first place?

Of course, it's your car so if you like it, then that's all that matters. Enjoy it!

Considering the car you ended up with costs some 60% more than the car you started with, I would expect it to be better in just about every way. Otherwise, that would have been a waste of money.

Nice trade!

I'm sure these pics don't do the Benz justice at all.

On another note, since I'm in both boats, doesn't his applying of the "AMG" emblem seem similar to the "Euro-R" emblem applications. I guess you can call it GDM, sorta.

Not the same thing, really. EuroR and TSX are pretty much the same car just in different markets.

Putting an AMG badge on a C350 is like putting an M3 badge on a 325i. It's claiming performance that isn't there.

Correction, the EuroR is a high performance "TSX". So if AMG on my 350 is wrong, so is the EuroR on TSX. If you want to rebadge legitimately, you would rebadge your TSX as an Accord - what it is known as in the rest of the world.

Oh we are just playahating on you because we like your new car.

I love the flip out Navi screen.

One thing I noticed is that it doesn't have Push Button Start. That would have been nice.

Other than, that, its a nice car!

Right or wrong, the way I see it:

M3 is a car made by the BMW's M division. Since its a car, you can't badge a 325 as an M3. You can put M3 body kit parts on it, but its not an m3.

AMG is Benz's AMG division. It is NOT a car. If the badge on your car, it should represent an assortment of AMG parts you can have on your car. This is not to say that if you have but only an AMG shift knob, you should slap an AMG badge on. But if you have the complete aero package, I think its alright. Its a judgement call.

But its not disingenuous to have it, since you're not claiming your car is another car altogether. Nowadays, AMG doesn't necessarily mean power, since Benz decided to sell those body kits on other cars without the power.

FYI, the same kinda goes for Mugen vs. the Type R suffix. Mugen can be considered something like AMG. A honda or acura can have Mugen parts, and hence, kids can slap on a Mugen badge. They're just parts from a company. But a Type R badge should be attached to a Type R, be it NSX, Integra, Civic, from the factory. Either that, or have exactly every part from a type r. A type-r lip doesn't make a type-R. Its something more pure, like an M3.
.

.
Oh and Kmanian- Really nice upgrade! Its definitely a step up. I've always liked Benz's, its just to bad that they've soiled their reputation with reliability. FWIW, my wife and I inherited my Grandma's 1986 190e. It has never broken down on us and the leather is still flawless.

So you get $25K for the TSX is that trading the TSX for the Benz or did you sell it and get the Benz.

no it's the same thing.. EuroR is the 'AMG/M3' of the CL7/CL9 being that it has a higher output and more sport oriented

I'm not trying to be an ass, dude. In fact I really like your car. There's a red one just like it on a Benz billboard next to I95 that I drive past every day and drool over.

I disagree on your interpretation of EuroR/TSX (and am against this re-badging in general and my TSX shall remain an Acura to its final days), but this isn't the thread for it so I'm going to drop it! Enjoy the new whip!

Nice ride, but definitely out of my league. For $44k, I would hope its an upgrade over the TSX. I am a fan of the C series, and although I highly doubt I'd ever own a Mercedes, its not because I don't like them.

First, congratulations on the new ride dude! The new C-class is definitely a looker, and it has some pretty awesome stuff in it. It is, for sure, a big step up from the TSX. I wish you many safe and fun miles.

Second, and I'm sorry to say this, get rid of the AMG badge. I dislike it so much when I see a non-AMG car with AMG badging...it makes it look so tacky.

I would have personally rather gotten an E90 335i w/ ZSP, ZPP, and iDrive for a little more than the cost of your C350, but that's just personal preference. You have a GREAT car man. Enjoy it!

Awesome thing is, MBZ pretty much makes at-least one AMG model for every one of their cars...C63, CLK63 & CLK63 Black Series, CLS63, CL63 & CL65, S63 & S65, SL63 & SL65, SLK, E63, ML63, G-wagon...I wouldn't be surprised if they make one for the GL soon, if they haven't already. And then on top of that you have Brabus to fix em up even more Man I love MB...

yeah...I don't see how you can try to rebadge that as an AMG considering the fact that you are missing the 6.3 liter V8. I'm pretty sure if you go to the MB forums or even happen to pass someone with a C63 in the future, they will tell you the same thing

Nice car...definitely a better performing car than the TSX!

a little overpriced I might have to add..but an amazing car!

the AMG badge though, it can go either way...
if u have to argue that since a lot of ppl on here have EURO R on their TSX, so you putting ///AMG on your C350 is justified, then I guess you're just using someone else's mistake to justify your own...
well, since you do have the whole bodykit, it's not totally loser, and maybe you should start modding out the car with some genuine ///AMG parts

but on the other hand...only "A-spec" a A-SPEC TSX has is a bodykit, wings, wheels, and a slightly tuned suspension...

but then again, the A-SPEC TSX doesn't claim to be TWO TIMES as powerful...

with all that said

why didn't you get the black??????

it'd look so sick with your wheels

God bless

Honestly, I don't think that I have to qualify the AMG badge. However, anything away from the "norm" seems to freak people out. Furthermore, it seems inherently difficult for people to form their own opinions without being influenced by previous ones. Either way, I love the way it makes the back of the car look so when the "real AMG" owners point and laugh as I have been promised, I really won't care less as another guy said on here "I am driving my car and not everyone else's car."

I chose the red because IMO, it is the most aggressive looking color on the C. I also have a W203 at home in the same color and love it! Furthermore, after coming from CGP the TSX, I was tired of dealing with the car being dirty as hell after 2 days of driving. The red can hide dirt a little better and ironically, it looks really nice against my rims which become gun-metal colored due to brake dust! lol ... So essentially, my car has "2 faces."

Cool car on the outside, not a fan of the interior. For that amount of money, I would have prefered an interior that is a bit more luxorious and substantial.

I don't know if you've seen the latest Motor Trend but it was posted in the Car Talk section. I don't remember where the C ranked but check it out, gives a detailed write-up of the new C.
