Euro Rear Fog Light installed today, not yet wire yet though

Just installed the rear fog light.
Not that difficult, just 3 screws, but need a very narrow and long socket to reach the screws though. Gonna wait for the switch to arrive from Honda dealership..and then I will get my friend to figure out how to hook it up to a seperate switch. Someone mentioned the rear fog light in Europe has a seperate switch...but as far as I can tell *according to a UK parts manager* the rear fog light is turn on by the same fog light switch as our stock front fog light.

rear fog lights should have a seperate switch. If you look at BMW rear fog switch, it's located on the opposite side of the lights knob. You can turn on your front fogs, or turn the dial to the rear fog and the front automatically come on in that setting only. The Benz's and Audi's are like that too.

Here is the European switch. I have it for my Euro fogs. I just have to add the rear fog. You just twist the switch up or down depending on whether you want both the front and rear fogs on or just the rear.

That is actually a really neat switch. You can use it as a hidden kill switch or something...

on my moms mercedes with one switch, you can turn the headlightson , fog lights, rear fog, and it has a weird function... you can turn one parking light on at a time (either right on only or left on only) dont ask me why. stupid mercedes!

Can you do just the front also?

Oh, maybe it is just the front, or both front and rear. Probably not only the rear by itself.

I'm assuming this switch is plug and play for the front fogs on a USDM car.

Do the USDM cars already have the harness for the rear Euro fog as well?

The switch is plug and play. Just swap it in just like the USDM switch. I am not sure how the rear fog would work if I got it. I assume I would probably have to hunt down a fuse and wire line to rear light. just not sure.

Here is a shot of my fogs from a 2.2 CDTi.

I purchased the whole kit from Chiswick Honda in the UK. Excellent customer service.

Nice! Is the rear fog a change out of the whole assembly, or just that one bulb section?

I know this is an old thread, but has anyone properly installed the rear fog light? ...or know where we can order this light switch and wire it up to the rear fog so that it is functional?

It lights up as bright as a brake light so that cars coming up fast behind you can see you more easily in foggy conditions.

i believe they sell the driver side inner tail light for around 170 from mrheeltoe. Or you could go offsite to boomplustoys or king motorsports or aj-racing.

Ive been thinking about doing a complete 04-05 taillight conversion on my 06, as the 2006 jdm tails are the exact same as the 04-05 as they did not do a redesign like they did for the 06 TSX here in the states this year. Hope this helps.

That's because in Germany and most parts of Europe when you park your car on one of those narrow, curvy streets at night you leave the road-side parking light on so people coming up on your parked car can see it before they take off your rear 1/4 panel & bumper. It used to and my still be a required safety feature on cars sold in some countries. Don't ask me about how it will drain your battery and all that stuff but I do think I recall something about a low power setting/draw when the car is turned off. Could be wrong about that but that's what I remember.

PS - Not so stupid...

eh, call it a difference of opinion, but i am more a fan of symmetry. I think both tails should look the same. I always have atleast my running lights on in fog, so the back is lit anyway, not real sure why this is needed. I guess thats why we don't have it here.

I too like a balanced look but this safety feature does have its place. Much like the red & green side-combo for airplanes the single "white" fog light is not only seen earlier than the running lights it also tells the following driver which side is the driver's side and in fact that the vehicle in front of him is going in the same direction. In my neck of the woods where we get thick ground fog that you can not see through this addition, if all cars had it, would be of great help in avoiding the dreaded multi-car pile up. I myself worry more about the bozo behind me driving too fast in the fog while talking on the cell phone. We're talking about people dying here for no fault of their own. I'm all for anything that will help prevent this from happening.

yes, i am definately for any added safety feature, but since this is a largely uncommon addition, im not sure how much good it would do- ie cars not knowing what the single red light was, maybe thinking it is a motorcycle and swerving right to miss it only to rearend the car. It is definately something that would be more useful in northern areas, fog is not such a problem in FL. Maybe the gov. should look into mandating something like this, seems we are one of the few major countries without it.

Aside from the obvious fact that if they didin't see the little light in front of them they would not have seen the parked car and... well you get the picture. Anything that causes our all to normal car drivers these days to stop talking on their cell phone, put down their coffee drink, stop looking at their iPod and say WTF is that light there in front of me would be a good thing.

As to what the Gov. could or should do ala what other countries do; while they'er at it bring back simple paper ballots and hand counting for our elections. We just my end up with those "new" little lights and some people in power who give a fuck about you not getting killed by some brain-dead nimrod driving a 3-ton SUV in the fog.

One can only hope...

Actually a few Mercedes, Audi, and Volvos do have that here in the States. I see people driving with them on all the time, probably not even knowing, its so annoyingly bright in non foggy conditions...

just had a thought, how hard would it be to wire the 3rd break light, or spoiler leds, to function as this fog light? that would be the best of both worlds- a rear fog light when needed, and keep both functioning reverse lights and the symmetry that i like. I can't imagine it would be too difficult to tap into the 3rd break wire so that it would light when the fogs were lit, or so it would be lit with the rear fog function of the light switch. If this is reasonably feasable, i think i would do it after i get front fogs.
