DIY Gunmetal Emblems
For those of you interested in gunmetal emblems, but don't want to shell out the money, there is an alternative. I found these over on clubrsx, a member painted theirs w/ spray paint. Looks pretty good, would be perfect with a coating.

I believe some clearcoat gloss spraypaint would give it a shine.
here is the original thread from clubrsx
the guy used some weird japanese paint, but I think something from home depot would work fine.

Maybe just try that tinted taillight spray. It might be transparent enough to shine.
Before I ordered the TSX I wasgoing to get a 2005 Altima 3.5SE %spd, and right away I was gonna crack open the taillights and spray all that chrome with a tint spray.
I imagine if you do several light coats you might get it to stick evenly without forming too many droplets.
Just my little idea.
Cheers
Dave

Well I tried out the DIY gunmetal and it came out... ok, here are some pics
I did the license plate holder first to see how it looked. I taped it up, primered it and used some gunmetal wheel paint from Advance Auto. They used to be chrome/silverish and I was very happy w/ my customized license plate holder.
I did it on the emblem, took it off the car, used goo gone to get rid of the sticky stuff and rubbing alcohol to get the grease off. I primered it and painted it the same, and it came out well... not sure how much I like it though. The color was right though, almost matchs my wheels. Its not glossy however, you can buy a gloss aftercoat in the same kind of wheel paint, but I didn't.
I may still go for the black chrome, not sure.

just a little update. I ended up removing the gunmetal paint from the emblem. I chipped a fleck off of it putting it on the car. It seems even w/ primer and a bunch of coats of paint, it doesn't stick all that well to the chrome of the emblem. I didn't sand the emblem in case I ever painted to remove it.
30min of soaking in lacquer remover and it all melted away. So for now its back to stock, until I can justify $50 black chrome emblems.
