that's pretty disgusting...I will definitely be changing mine at 15K miles

Dayum! I still haven't done that after 3.5 years. I'd better get on it.

3-1/2 years? Thats going to be one nasty looking pollen filter.

I've changed my filter at 14 months and 17,000 miles for the 1st time and it looked pretty much like jlukja filter above. Considering how cheap and easy to do the filter replacement, I might change it out twice a year. A lot of dust/sand/pollen in New Mexico I had the same black muck on my filter also, what the hell is that, car exhaust soot?

I've just looked at mine at 15,288 miles. Mine's really clean compare to some of you folks! Clean enough to lick off from!
