Bye Bye Vtec, Hello turbo
I bit the bullet and traded in my tsx yesterday. I didn't expect to get the price I wanted but to my surprise the stealership agreed. The tsx is a great car but I feel this car has a little more to offer for the same price. It's certified up to 2010 or 100k so if pretty happy with that. My tsx had a few issues that I didn't feel like paying for anyway such as interior rattles and was in need for new tires anyway.
Here was my tsx if you guys don't remember.
2004 9-3 w/ Aero Package
2.0t
210hp
221tq @ 2500 RPM
Thanks for all the help, I'll still be poppin in from every now and then. If anyone wants to buy a test pipe pm me.

Nice Saab, good luck with reliability compared to the TSX, but I've seen some mean modded Saabs, so have fun with that!
~Cheers~

For anyone interested in that comparo. The MB C230 was the 3rd car.

You people all need to back off... the 9-3 with the Aero package is a SWEET looking ride and relatively exclusive on the road. The guy said he has a 100K warranty so who cares if it breaks down... it's free to fix. Just imagine it dropped with some 18s or 19s and it will be a true one-of-a kind head turner.
And, to the guy that said the new 9-3 just came out, that was just a face and butt-lift... the car has the same dimensions, doors, etc... nothing major.
In my opinion this is a nice upgrade from a stock TSX of the same age and now he is covered with a warranty, too.
Damned04, time to head to the Saab message boards and start modding!

In no way way do I want to put the Saab down, but I personally agree with this.
A different car, not really an upgrade. But like most said, if he likes it, thats all that matters. My boss just picked up a 07 Aero with the Turbo V6. That is an upgrade, very nice car.

damn you pulled the trigger quick. Long run I hope you enjoyed your purchase I would've just bought a little bit older of a used one (depreciation is crazy). To everyone his own, I wouldn't have done it. :P

Saab claims to have made 2157 changes to its 2008 line of 9-3 vehicles. While it's impossible to verify each one, the major improvements are easy to see.
From the A-pillar forward, the 9-3 sheetmetal is completely new and features aggressive aeronautically inspired grillework, vaguely menacing headlights with perma-lit "eyebrows," and Saab's distinct clamshell hood.

Your first clue that something's up on the 2008 Saab 9-3 sedan and SportCombi wagon will be the conspicuous lack of Saab's traditional black body-side moldings. Your second clue is the new face inspired by the Aero X Concept.
To find your third clue, bend down on the ground and have a look underneath. Ya sure, that's a rear differential.
Come January 2008, the 9-3 will apply power to all four wheels. And while it represents a break with tradition, the all-wheel-drive 2008 Saab 9-3 Aero XWD could save this brand from sales obscurity.
I think it is still considered a refresh face-lift but there are some pretty big changes.

I'm just saying it's not as radical of a change, say, such as when Acura came out with the current-generation TL from the last TL... THAT is a huge change and would make me skip the last generation from consideration.

We had a number of Saabs (900S, 900 Turbo, 9000 Aero) before moving to Honda/Acura (a Prelude, Legend, and now a TSX) -- those Swedish babes are definately unique and the turbo kick-in, even with the auto, is dramatic. (Actually the Saab four-speed was a pretty slushy gearbox so the auto, at least at the time, was the way to go.) Handling was Euro-precise and the cargo capacity of both the 900 and 9000 was truely astounding.
The big difference, BY FAR, is Honda/Acura's dependability and ease of maintenance. We dealt with a great, honestly-priced Saab garage, but never got away for less than $600 or $800 -- and often a couple thou -- which happened at least twice a year (things like water pumps died at 45,000 miles and the like). I understand The General has upped reliablity with the 9-3 and 9-5, but I'm still leery of Euro reliability.
If you're willing to accept the maintainence issues, though, Saabs are a great ride and one of the most practical grand touring cars out there.
