Another set of painted black calipers with decals

So I finally found a guy on ebay selling white "Acura" decals for our calipers. I know I will probably be asked for a link to the auction so here it is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MESE:IT&ih=016

To paint the calipers, I just used some Dupli-Color black caliper spray paint which can be found in most auto stores for around $6-$7 bucks. I did 2 calipers at a time (front and back) and sprayed three coats of paint on each. It took around 3-4 hours total for me(don't use this as a benchmark though because I like to take my time). Overall, it went very smoothly and I am very happy with the results. Sorry for the garage pics, it started to rain while I was doing this so I could not get any good pics. This will probably be my last mod for this car so enjoy!!!

Does anyone have the decal on without painted calipers? I want to achieve the RL caliper look. But I wonder if it will look funny with unpainted calipers with the decals on?

I've seen it done before with black decals. They just placed black Acura decals on the stock silver colored calipers. It looked good, but overall, it didn't look that great because he had the stock '06-'07 wheels on. I think the wheels you have really can make or break this mod.

Looks great. I'm gonna paint mine red. Did you put any type of clear coat on them?

Very nice. I have blue brake calipers. I just ordered a set of these Acura decals for them.

Can you tell me how you got around the indent on the front caliper?

wow, clean job! there isn't a way around the indent. just place it in the middle and the indent won't be too noticeable.

Looks good!!! Did you hand paint them? I have seen a few different methods in doing this and i have been thinking about doing it however, i didn't want to hand paint them, i prefer to spray paint them. How do you spray paint them and not spray the rear face of the brake pad? Do you really have to tape it all off, or does it just rub off since it a moving part?

IMO, the spray paint is the easiest and fastest method for doing this. Plus the paint kits are more expensive. I would recommend the spray paint.

As for the pads, I actually did two different things. For the calipers on the left side, I taped the back of the pads, for the calipers on the right side I got lazy and didn't tape them and instead just sanded them down afterwards (you can't tell since they are black anyways). No big deal either way. If i had to do it over again I would probably just tape them.

You can also see the difference in the pics, the first few pictures are without them sanded, the most recent ones I posted are with them sanded.

Good to know, thanks! That is exactly what i was looking for! I figured if i was going with black, which i am, that it wouldn't make that much of a difference like you said. I already have the decals at my house too, so its just a matter of painting them when i get some time. Maybe over the holiday weekend

also thinking about painting my OEM wheels gunmetal.....even though they are only my Thanksgiving to March wheels, i like the look since i have an ASM TSX.

Thanks. I hand painted each caliper. Cleaned them off first with a cleaning solvent, then used a paint bruch with 3 coats.

So then for the stickers, I should start in the center recessed area, then move out towards the left and right ends? So the decal is actually attached in the recessed area? I know it sounds simple, but I want to make sure I get these put on the best way.
