Smile 08 JDM lights installed

Hello all.
Recently (yesterday and today) I had some electrical work done on my
TSX. I had my JDM lights installed, and I had the demon eye kit in them
custom wired to the dash, so they can turn on or off independently, no
matter if the car is on or not. I did the same with the fog lights. They can
now turn on and off independently whether the car is on or not.

I also installed a window up module from KP Technologies, and I installed
a backup camera too. Here's some daytime pics I took today.
When it gets dark, I'll take pictures of all of the new lights and such.

I switched out my HIDs for Kaixen 8500k bulbs.
I switched out my fogs for 4300k H11's.
I switched out my reverse lights for Rabrig R132's.

Here's some pics of what the car looks like today.
The only gripe I have is the button I put in the dash doesn't color match.
You'll see in the pictures below.

Oh, and don't flame me for my Type-S badge.
It will be earned, trust me. Wait until you see the custom interior going
into this car...

Okay, enough rambling, here's some amateur pics:

Man....

I really need to drop this car...

These go on in the morning...
Along with my Progress RSB.

I'm getting there, slow but sure.

Your car looks good, I'm interest to see the Demon Eye light up pix.

What's w/ the Type-S badge? I don't see anything of your interior? Did you get a Type-S steering wheel or shift boot ????

You'll see what the type S badge is for...
But not for a while.
A whole custom interior is going in, with Type S stitching and whatnot.
Plus some other appointments for it.
Just to be different. I don't like fitting in so much.
And the Honda Euro R thing just really isn't for me.

So seeing how Acura doesn't offer a Type-S TSX, I'm making one myself.

As for the wheel gap, you can see the picture of Tein SS's there...
They'll be on in the morning.

And as for the angel eyes:
I don't need the parking lights for anything.
My angel eyes work independent of all other lights.
When it gets dark out, I'll take pics of them.

My fog lights and my angel eyes are completely independent of other lights.

The rest is just vinyl, also poor quality.

I don't like the monotone color seats either...
So to the interior shop it'll go.

First I need my RSB and suspension installed.
Then a clear bra.
Then some rims (AME's most likely).
Then I'll go after the interior.
I'll probably have to save up a bit for it...

Nice work, I just hope you don't get in trouble for the backup camera, it's illegal to cut your license plate, IIRC and if you want to make your own TypeS, get the new emblem

I think to truly be a Type-S of any sort you will need to supercharge or HyTech the car. If you just put in a nice interior that doesn't "earn" a performance badge in my book.

That being said: headlights look great and I'd love to see a pic in some twilight hours of the angel eyes lit up.

Well, I don't like the new Type S badge.
The one on the TL's?
I don't like it.

I like this one much better.

And oh yes, it'll earn the badge.
You are very correct, just an interior and whatnot is not good enough.
The engine will have it's own round of mods.

I'm holding off for now.
If I start on the engine, it'll be way too long before I get to the
rest of the asthetic stuff.

As soon as the look is correct, the engine will begin it's journey.
I'm researching quite heavily as to how I'm going to do it.
I have some good ideas, but a lot more thought needs to go into it.
Most likely it will be a supercharger.
https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...94&postcount=1
Similar to this.

As for the licence plate... I don't care about the law.
If I get a ticket, I'll do this:

Ditch this pioneer camera.
Buy a new one, that's thin and almost flat like.
Get a new plate.
Drill a small hole in the black tennessee dash in the middle.
Have only the lense show through the hole.
That way they won't even see it at all.
It's only chopped up like this because of the camera I got.
Got the wrong one... oh well for now.

i have to agree. any 'type-s' badging better have a supercharger, turbo, etc...

but that's just me.

Even then - it's creating something that doesn't exist.

If someone turbos a Galant to 400whp and puts a "Type-R" badge on it... that still doesn't work, in my opinion, because there's no such thing. There's no Geo Prizm GT-R, there's no BMW 330ci-STi, and there's no Chevy HHR SS... wait, yes there is, I just pretend there isn't.

haha. true, true. and the badging is just a calling card for ppl to want to race you. if he really plans to 'type-s' it under the hood, it 'd be more fun to take the badge off and keep it a sleeper.

not sure what you plan to do with the 08 aside from bolt-ons to make it a type-s. no hondata, no comptech supercharger, no engine management if you wanted to turbo, and hytech takes 1000 years to make its parts.

hmmm... having a problem photographing them.

They are soooo bright.
They look soooo nice too.

They're quite bright, almost as bright as my fogs.
They show up kind of as headlights in the pictures.

I'm not too good with cameras, I'm not sure how to
get around all of the glare...

Thumbs down

Well, I suck at picture taking...

Here's what I got when I tried:
Top one is the independent fogs at dusk.
Rest are Demon Eyes at night...

Anyone have any tips for me on getting a
picture of these where they look like they do in real life?

Oh yeah, that's all you see.
No glare at all.
In person it is sooo nice looking.

This is a shot of them sitting on a table...

Damn, this sucks, I need to figure out how to photograph them.
You'll like them very, very much, I know you will....

I figured out the camera a bit by messing with options,
but it seems like no picture at all can do it justice, no way.

I can kind of get the isolated rings in the picture, but
no picture I take looks anything like real life.
I wonder if I can record it with a camcorder or something...
Wonder if it would look true to life that way...

Or maybe I need a better camera.

Here's the best I've come up with:

In person they are very crisp, very defined, very clear.
Even from far away the 3 rings are very clear and discernable.
The color is really nice too, I like the 8000k much more than the 6000k.
My HIDs are 8500k, nice match.

Maybe when it's dusk or dawn I'll be able to do better...
I'll keep trying.

How much did what cost?
Let's see... too much whatever it was.

Car = $32,000 OTD
JDM lights = +/- $750
Halo kit = +/- $415
Custom wiring = +/- $400 (Had a pro shop do it)
Backup camera = +/- $150
Window up module = +/- $50
Tein super street coilovers = +/- $875
The look = Priceless

The Teins go on the car in T-minus 8 hours now... can't wait.
Man, the 06-08 Euro R kit is pricey...
Actually, everything for this car is pricey...
I'm glad this is an Acura (Honda), at least the car will last a
couple hundred thousand miles.

The demon eyes look pretty good; earlier version (not sure if it's the same brand) has a lot of problem, people risked to open their headlight, install, zeal back, and the angel eye kit was no longer work in 3 months. I hope yours is different.

It seems like you do all the labor job (installation) yourself? If so you can save ALOT of $$$ down the road, especially once you start the engine part. Good luck.

I have no concerns about problems with the demon eyes.
I had AAC do the install of them, so they're guaranteed for life.
Both parts and labor is guaranteed, so if I ever do have a problem,
I'll just send them out to be replaced, free of charge.

I didn't do much work myself at all.
I paid a custom shop to do most of the wiring.
The DIY's here and on the other site frankly are not too good.

I printed them out and brought them to a pro electrical installer.
I brought him probably 10 DIY's from this site and the other one.
He said most every one of them is the wrong way to do it.
Example: To make the fog lights independent, no wires need to
be run at all. Nothing through the firewall, no opening of the
fog light relay under the hood, all unnecessary.
Similar with the backup camera, no need to ground to the taillight,
there's better ways of doing it.

I wanted a top quality job done, and there just isn't any top quality
information on these sites to go by. It's all kind of just hack jobs
that are documented. Nothing personal, no offense against the authors
of the DIY's on these sites, but not one person that wrote them is
a professional. And none of the work is professional either. It may work,
it's just not for me.

I'd rather pay to have professional work done. It's very hard to find a true
professional though, they're few are far between, I got very lucky.

How are your fog lights set up? In the interior shot I see only one fog light button, so I would assume only the demon eyes or fogs are connected to that button, so how did you make both independent?

Correct.
That button down by the VSA off switch is for the independent demon eyes.
The fog lights are still controlled by the fog light switch.
I can just turn them on and off whenever I want.
No need for parking lights, or regular lights or whatever.
So both the demon eyes and the fog lights are 100% independent.

The way I was going to do it is to tap into the blue/white wire coming from
the fog light switch in the steering column. Then run that tapped wire through
the firewall and connect it to the blue/black wire under the hood in the fog
light relay. That's how the DIY shows to do it on the other site.

The guy I had do it said that was totally unnecessary.
I'm not sure how he did it though, he didn't give me details.
He said he did it all within the steering column, easy as pie.
"Oh, you just want the fogs to work whenever you turn the switch, no matter what?"
Yes, I said, exactly.
"No problem, easy one, no big deal, no need to run any wires, I got it."
Okay, great, I said.
That was about it.

But I'll ask him for sure at a later date. I'll be going back to him no question.
I'm going to have him build me some custom fiberglass or mdf stuff for a stereo.
I'm gonna try something unique.

I love the headlights, I was following your other thread about sending it to AAC and such.

This turning out to be almost my dream car, cept mine would be NBP or PWP. JDM/angel eyehead lights, redone two tone interior (what i'm guessing your doing), Euro R body kit, the 07-08 Type S badging, and of course a supercharger to give the "Type S" some meaning.

Sadly, I own a 07 AT. So I'm shit out of luck with the supercharger.

Well, I talked to a photographer and he gave me some tips.

Looks like I'll be taking pictures around dusk tonight for the best effect.
There needs to still be some light of day left.

I took one just now in daylight, here it is:

and

I'll try to catch it later on when it's really dusk, then you'll be able
to actually see what I see maybe.
You can see the clarity in this picture, just not their brightness.

Oh, and my Tein SS's are on now, Progress RSB too...
I'll make that it's own thread though.

Car looks great! I think the headlights are a really nice touch, and as far as the Type -S badge goes...I had one on my 02 TL-S and I don't think anyone ever noticed anything other than comments like "there is a red S on your car." I think it looks fine, and all the Type S means is some mods...you have some mods...so if you want to distinguish your car from others...do it. Great work! For the money you have put into it already you could have gotten a TL Type S! Crazy to think how the money piles up!

Yes, I said, exactly.
"No problem, easy one, no big deal, no need to run any wires, I got it."
Okay, great, I said.
That was about it.
I thought all foglight can turn on or off whenever you want by pushing the button? I never know there's a need to run parking light or regular light with it...

BTW: Nice update picture, can't wait to see more picture @ night.

Yeah, there is.
My fog lights on the 08 are turned on and off using the turn signal rod.
There's a little switch there.
It only works when your parking lights are on.
Or wait. I think you actually have to have your headlights on to turn the
fog lights on...
Which I don't like.

I like to have the option to use them during dusk or whatever, or when it's
raining so I don't have to burn my HIDs when I don't really need to.

These small mods that you really can't see amuse the hell out of me.
Not too sure why, but they really do.

I guess the button issue only bothers 06+ TSXer cause they call comes w/ OEM fog w/ the use of the turn signal rod.

I'm looking forward to put 3000K HID + Yellow lense on my fog; currently using 6000K HID as my fog, it looks phenomenal but it's time to change for better clarity on road...
