what to do to my new car
hey yall. i got a 2005 Acura TSX for my birthday a month ago and just joined AcuraZine and im trying to figure out what mods i should do to her... im thinking about getting the OEM body kit, but i also wanted to upgrade my rims. i cant decide if i should get 18s and lower her or get 20s, and what rims to get. im gonna tint my windows and probably get borla exhaust and have my brakes painted red (to match my car). any suggestions?

20s might be a little too big, hard on your wallet too. 17s or 18s fit tsx better imo. I personally don't think you should get a bodykit. The car looks nice already, just get some rims and give it a drop. A bodykit will get you comments like RICE!!! and stuff.. no need for the hassle. First thing to making your car handle better is better tires. Get those along with the rims. Intake, exhaust, headers, list is endless, depends what you're aiming at.

definitly the suspension first cause the car looks like a 4x4 stock. dont do 20" rims they are way to big for this car don't do anything bigger than 19's.
So my list would got.
1. suspension
2. rims
3. intake
4. rear sway bar
5. body kit or lip kit

Number 1 in my book has to be the Comptech rear swaybar. No mod is easier to do, cheaper, and it makes the car handle much better.
I'd say:
1. Comptech rear sway
2. Suspension drop
3. Rims
4. Audio (stock speakers kinda suck)
5. Intake
I did Comptech rear sway, then Comptech front strut bar, then rims.

actually personally i would go with the progress rear sway cause down the road it allows you more exhaust options. you cant get the greddy exhaust with the comptech rear sway cause it hits. but the progress rear sway fits over it fine. also the progress bar is thicker.

Ive had my OEM body kit on the car since the first week I got it, nothing but compliments and double takes. Everyone loves it, makes the car more agressive and sporty looking. Compliments from guys and alot of girls as well, so far never heard anyone mention "rice". Just tasteful and very nice car. Its always clean, so it looks presentable.
My mods in order:
1) OEM body kit
2) Clear Bra
3) Comptech front strut bar
4) Comptech rear sway bar
5) Interior neon accent lighting
6) Koni + Comptech suspension this weekend
7) Ingalls F+R camber kits this weekend
8) Navi-TV mod + TV Tuner + DVD player this weekend if girlfriend permits more time
9) Umnitza angel eye mod installation
10) Random Tech high flow cat
11) Zaino paint treatment
12) Stereo upgrades (complete speaker replacement and add a sub)

You should go to driving school, or even do a couple of informal public day lapping sessions (with or without a club, but don't forget your helmet), and I mean this in the sincerest way. You will be amazed at how much most people really don't know about driving, and how quickly you can improve "your car's" performance, by improving the driver.
Isn't Road Altanta in Georgia, and I bet it's open all year round, too? At least spend some time in a go-kart. And read your Bondurant!!!

I'm not in favor of the bodykit. A lowered car with nice wheels, 18 x 7.5"
at 48 offset looks right and clean. But that's taste no point discussing that.
That said, bodykit is a highest cost lowest function available. There's
much more to do with a payback first.
I would do :
1) Progress rear sway $150
2) Header - DC or OBX cause it's cheap, no real good one avail yet so do cheap $250
3) Lower suspension, Mugen or Neuspeed/Koni with 1.5" drop springs
a) camber kit F&R, Im changing to SPC having rear alignment trouble with Ingalls. I'm also working on a rod end ball joint homemade model.
$1100 - $1500
4) Rims 18x7.5 48 offset or 18x8 42 offset, 235/40R18 Fuzion or Toyo
a) 19" SW is too low, ride too harsh, can't get the right suspension setup, brakes look too small.
$1500-$2000
5) CAI $200
6) Speakers $300
7) Hondata $500
8) Hi flow cat $350
9) Exhaust Tenabe $750
10) Front Strut Bar $300
11) Slotted Rotors $200

I'd go:
1) clear bra (if you're anal about chips and what not)
2) suspension
3) rims
4) CAI
5a) Mugen Kit
5b) Exhaust
6) Audio
Then again, you're only 16, so you might want to save your $$ for other stuff; Unless you're makin mad dough....

if you want to improve handling and safety, then dump those crappy, rediculously overpriced OEM tires as quick as you can (I did at <2k miles). if you get new rims in the process, more power to you.

When you say thicker, do you mean "rigid"? I've actually heard from someone on the board (who originally had the Comptech) that the Progress bar allows for more play in the rear wheels, and that's at the stiffest setting. Based on that, I would say that the Progress bar is a little less rigid... but, Colt's right. If you have *any* plans of going with an aftermarket exhaust (outside of Comptech), you'll have to get a Progress bar or revert back to the stock one... and even with the Progress bar, you may have to modify your cat or exhaust slightly to keep from hitting...
At least, in the case of the exhaust I want (Tanabe SMH )
I would do things in this order:
1) Suspension - sway bar, shocks/springs or coilovers
2) Wheels and tires
3) Cosmetic mods - body kit, lip spoiler, etc.
4) Audio

BBS does make wheels for TSX - I have a set of 18x7.5 RGR in diamond black - they are available with 50 offset which work perfectly - I have Eibach pro-kit. There are some photos out there somewhere on the board
