Tsx lsd

Wet road + car's weight and torque on the outer wheel = start of wheelspin.
Hence, the OEM LSD (and Quaife) sends torque back to the inner wheel which now has more grip, and results in the car actually pushing itself outwards to the outer lane! Wavetrac should eliminate this inherent "design feature" of torsen LSDs.

There is one situation where the Wavetrac will have an advantage over the OEM LSD and the Quaife. I come across this situation very often near my home. In the rain, around the roundabout with 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and moderate speed (20-25mph). Once the inner tyre starts to lose traction, the OEM LSD sends torque to the outer wheel.

Yes, that was one of the downsides of the OEM LSD that actually made my car worse in the corners when compared to the stock open diff! It cost me so much to install the OEM LSD, that I don't think I will be upgrading to the Wavetrac, not until I wear out this new clutch in the next 5 years.

I still didn`t set my mind on one of them..OEM, Kaaz, Quaife..
I am looking for improved traction, steering and hoping to reduce 3-4 seconds out of a 2 min track lap. Couple of messy curves on our circuit. Also, I am hoping that it will improve car handling and ability to drive during extreme winter conditions...

I simply can`t believe this, I don`t want to believe.

From what I have read on the wavetrac, you don't need to maintain it, just like the OEM and Quaife LSD. Once the friction surface wears out, the wavetrac then acts the same as the OEM and Quaife.
No idea on the Kaaz, I have not had much info on that.

Does anyone know whether it would be possible to put 2nd and 3rd gears from 09 TSX into a 1st gen tranny? If so, about how much would it cost? And would there be any issues with speedometer?
Thanks!

I'm going to be putting a wavetrac LSD in my TSX. I've read good things about it and the shop I go to is very impressed with them as well and is recommending me to use it. I can also get it for a good price

Hello again.
Finally I got LSD!
I got 2nd hand DC5 lsd, it is supposed to be Cusco DC5.
Both me and my friend ordered one each and he got this:
http://img355.imageshack.us/my.php?image=spera1rv0.jpg
and I got that:
Those 2 LSD should look the same because they are both (supposed to be) Cusco DC5 LSD-s. They don`t look identical to me.
Please HELP!!!

Pretty hard to see much but it looks like the one you've got already has the bearings pressed on where the other one does not. I'd probably replace the bearings if it came that way. I can't really see anything else different.

i have tried all 3 options of geartype l.s.d's. Right here we go:
Our last demo car was a k20a jdm crx 88-91...it had the genuine dc5 lsd in it and it was amazing...lots of grip but had pretty obvious limits. a couple of demo cars before that was a k20a em1 civic coupe and i had a quaife atb(automatic torque biasing) in that. what i noticed in that was the more you pushed into the corner the more grip was created on the inner wheel....it was much better...we then fitted a wavetrac in a jdm dc5-r and i found the result in between the quaife and the stock dc5 one...i decided from this that i would fit the quaife in my cl9 and the results are awesome...does everything its supposed to and surpassed by expectations on such a heavy car...i personally recommend the quaife from experience...

^^^ Nice feedback. If you feel like it, I'd really like to hear a more detailed impression of the three. I really want to do this mod, probably next year. One of the main reasons is because of the extremity of the terrain around me and the fact that I often end up with one wheel with very little weight on it, sometimes not even touching the ground. For this reason I was looking at the clutch type (wavetrac) since the helical type will still spin the loose wheel if it has very low traction (from what I understand, please correct me if I'm wrong).

so i've read all the posts and i'm not quite following here. I have a US TSX, 04 6MT, and i'm wondering if swapping in an LSD will affect the odometer, or the speedometer.
are the US versions built differently from the other versions where the speedometer and odometer are measured from a different part of the drivetrain?

LukeaTron,
Get a helical type. Much better than clutch. Plus the only time when power will go to the slipping wheel is if there is virtually no resistance to it at all, which is quite unlikely to happen. Just do the research.
asinapple8805,
Your car will still have all functionality if you put in an LSD. If you do it right, that is.

I know this post is a little off topic in this thread.
but on the 'other' Honda/Acura forum I found this neat little gadget that's should allow you to fix the spedo problem for those swapping gears or anything that might affect the spedo.
Since the TSX uses the 3rd gear teeth for the VSS speed signal.
changing the gear = changing the VSS signal.
The below module modifies the signal pulse rate to whatever you want it to be.
http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...cat/cat105.htm
The K20 guys use them as the '04- RSX Type S transmission uses a different VSS sensor than the '05+ RSX Type S. (Hi/Lo frequency - Hondata has a writeup)
In any case, I'm currently doing my reasearch and looking to replace ALL my gear ratios in my TSX from an '06+ SI with LSD (1st & 6th are the same, the rest are shorter).
If anyone knows of ANY other issues with a TSX gear swap please let me know.(other than the above of course)
I want to know as much as possible before getting too deep into things....
Although I already have the transmission sitting in my garage

Like it's already been discusted man, getting an 09 TSX tranny is the solution for the longer gears in the 04-06 TSX. The gearing is very close to the 06 Si man. All you would need to do is add lsd to it. This is my plan once I pick up an 06 TSX.

I'm sure it's a fortune from the factory...
